“HE WAS ONLY THREE…”  — THE FINAL MOMENTS OF LITTLE NOAH WOODS REVEALED AT INQUEST

“HE WAS ONLY THREE…”  — THE FINAL MOMENTS OF LITTLE NOAH WOODS REVEALED AT INQUEST

More than 1,300 people joined the desperate search for a little boy who vanished during an ordinary trip to the playground. Now, an inquest has revealed how Noah Woods left the play area — while his grieving family shares the memories they want the world to remember.

Three-year-old Noah Woods was supposed to be enjoying a familiar afternoon out with a relative. Instead, his disappearance sparked a huge search across Brantham, Suffolk, before his body was found in a nearby pond the following day.

Now, details heard at an inquest have brought fresh attention to the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding his final hours.

Right chevronTHE MOMENT NOAH DISAPPEARED

Noah went missing on September 15, 2026, after visiting an under-fives playground on Merriam Close with a relative.

CCTV footage showed him playing at around 2:13 p.m., with the last recorded sighting at approximately 2:37 p.m. Police explained that the cameras were motion-activated, meaning they did not record continuously.

At the inquest, investigators said Noah left through a gap in a fence leading to a memorial garden, then passed through an open gate.

A relative followed closely behind, calling out and trying to keep up. But after travelling around 200 metres, Noah could no longer be seen.

Police were alerted, and a large-scale search operation began.

A SEARCH THAT BROUGHT A COMMUNITY TOGETHER

Around 1,300 members of the public joined emergency services and specialist search teams in the effort to find Noah.

The search continued into the following day. On September 16, Metropolitan Police divers recovered his body from Decoy Pond, near the playground.

At the inquest, investigators said Noah was found approximately five metres from the bank, among submerged tree roots, in water estimated to be 1.8 metres deep.

His death was not being treated as suspicious. The inquest was opened on September 25 and adjourned, with a further hearing date to be fixed.

In a moving tribute shared through Suffolk Constabulary, Noah’s family remembered him as a happy, cheeky and playful little boy who loved to laugh and bring joy to those around him.

Noah was being assessed for autism, although he had not received a diagnosis. He also had mild hearing loss and speech delays. His family said he was learning new words and had only recently begun finding and using his voice.

One of their greatest losses, they explained, was the sound of that little voice — something they would carry in their hearts forever.

Noah also adored his baby brother, following him around, playing with him and trying to make him laugh. His family described their bond as incredibly special.

His mother, Charlie Peck, made a simple and deeply emotional request: that people hold their children a little tighter, cherish every moment and never take precious memories for granted.

A FAMILY ASKING THE WORLD TO REMEMBER HIM

As the inquest process continues, Noah’s family has asked people to remember the little boy he was before the headlines — affectionate, curious, full of laughter and surrounded by love.

The tragedy has also prompted difficult questions about the gap in the playground fence and the route toward the nearby pond. The inquest has heard the circumstances of his disappearance, but its proceedings have not yet concluded.

For those who searched for him and those who loved him, the loss remains immeasurable.

Noah was only three years old. His family hopes his final story will not be defined solely by the way he died, but by the happiness, warmth and love he brought into their lives.
