TRANSFORMING PAIN INTO PURPOSE: THE INSPIRING JOURNEY OF THE JASPER TWINS

TRANSFORMING PAIN INTO PURPOSE: THE INSPIRING JOURNEY OF THE JASPER TWINS
At just twelve years old, twin brothers Travan and Travis Jasper made a life-defining choice in a cold hospital hallway. As their uncle suffered from severe liver failure, they felt frightened by the situation and dismissed by the physician in charge. Experiencing such indifference firsthand sparked a powerful shared goal: they decided to become doctors who would provide exceptional care while treating every patient and family with empathy and respect.

Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, the brothers faced severe financial hardships, including hunger and living without running water. Through unwavering determination and mutual support, they excelled academically, graduating high school as co-valedictorians and becoming the first in their family to pursue higher education. They went on to earn degrees from prestigious institutions, including Stanford University and the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine.

After years of medical practice in Georgia, the brothers returned to their hometown. In April 2026, they reached a remarkable milestone by becoming co-medical directors of the emergency department at Chippenham Hospital. To help patients and colleagues tell them apart, Travan wears purple scrubs while Travis wears green. Beyond their medical careers, they are fathers to eight children combined and actively mentor local youth through basketball programs.
The once-frightened young boys now lead a major emergency department where they grew up, constantly guided by the memory of how deeply a doctor’s words can impact a family.
