TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED IN CHRISTINA DOWNER CASE: BOYFRIEND AMONG SUSPECTS IN DISAPPEARANCE OF ‘SNL’ WRITER’S SISTER
Nearly a year after 38-year-old Christina Downer vanished in Los Angeles, police have arrested her boyfriend and another woman on suspicion of murder. Investigators allege the pair were involved in her death, the disposal of her body and efforts to conceal what happened.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — A major development has emerged in the disappearance of Christina Downer, the 38-year-old sister of Saturday Night Live writer and comedian Jimmy Fowlie.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that two people, including Downer’s boyfriend, have been arrested in connection with her suspected murder.
The suspects were identified as 41-year-old Delorean Bijon Brandon and 34-year-old Kaylee Nicole Markowski. Both were arrested on Thursday, October 29, 2026, and booked on suspicion of murder, according to police.
Brandon was taken into custody in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles, while Markowski was arrested in Tarzana. Each suspect is being held on $2 million bail.
According to the LAPD, detectives believe the two were responsible for Downer’s murder, the disposal of her body and concealing their involvement.
The case is now expected to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of formal charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
A DISAPPEARANCE THAT LEFT HER FAMILY SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS
Downer was last known to have been in contact with loved ones in late November 2025. She was reported missing on December 18, after her ex-husband requested a welfare check because he had not heard from her for an extended period.
She was last seen in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Her disappearance quickly alarmed relatives, who said it was completely out of character for her to suddenly stop communicating.
Her brother, Jimmy Fowlie, used social media to appeal for information and help bring attention to the search.
He emphasized that Christina had never simply disappeared without contacting her family. He also shared that she was rarely seen without her miniature pinscher, Rex, hoping the detail might help someone recognize her.
At the time, loved ones were desperate for any information that could explain where she had gone.
HER PHONE WAS LATER FOUND ON A BEACH
One significant development came when Christina’s cellphone was discovered washed ashore at Santa Monica Beach.
According to the LAPD, the discovery led detectives from the department’s Robbery-Homicide Division to take over the investigation.
Investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, including information provided by people close to her.
Police said Brandon had previously told authorities that Christina had moved out several months earlier, leaving behind her belongings, including her vehicle and dog.
That account became part of the investigation as detectives worked to establish what had happened to her.
FAMILY RAISED CONCERNS ABOUT HER PHONE AND SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS
Another troubling aspect of the case involved allegations that Christina’s phone and social media accounts had been compromised after she disappeared.
In an April 29 social media statement, Fowlie said his family had reason to believe that someone had gained control of her accounts and used them to create the impression that she had voluntarily cut off contact with everyone.
He said the accounts may also have been used to request money from people while making it appear that Christina had chosen to go off the grid.
One incident that raised questions was an Instagram post published on December 14, weeks after her family had last heard from her.
The message appeared to suggest that she was enjoying a peaceful life and invited people to send her a Christmas gift. However, some social media users questioned whether the post was genuine after noticing that its photograph appeared to have been used in an earlier Instagram Story.
The family’s concerns added another layer to an already deeply unsettling disappearance.
SEARCH IN JOSHUA TREE ADDED TO THE INVESTIGATION
Earlier in October 2026, investigators carried out an extensive search at an Airbnb property in the Joshua Tree area.
Detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division worked alongside K-9 teams and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to search the property for evidence connected to Downer’s disappearance.
Authorities did not publicly confirm at the time whether they were specifically searching for human remains. They said the operation was focused on locating evidence that could help investigators understand what happened.
The search came just weeks before the two arrests were announced.
JIMMY FOWLIE SHARED A HEARTBREAKING MESSAGE ABOUT HIS SISTER
In April, Fowlie shared that his family had been told Christina was no longer alive.
He described how the family’s hopes of finding her safely had changed into a determination to learn the truth and see those responsible held accountable.
At the time, however, the LAPD clarified that Christina had not been found and that the department had not officially classified the disappearance as a homicide.
The latest arrests represent a significant change in the investigation, although important questions remain unanswered.
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES AS FAMILY WAITS FOR ANSWERS
With two people now in custody, detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Christina’s disappearance and suspected killing.
Her remains have not been publicly reported as recovered, and authorities have not released further details about where they believe her body may have been taken.
The suspects remain accused at this stage, and the allegations have not yet been tested in court.
For Christina’s family, the arrests mark a major development after months of uncertainty and unanswered questions. But until investigators establish what happened and locate her remains, the search for the full truth is far from over.
