MISSING WYOMING MOTHER OF TWO, 30, FOUND DEAD AFTER TRUCK CRASHES DOWN STEEP HILLSIDE

The search for Kandice Gunter ended in tragedy after her gray pickup truck was discovered below a guardrail near Lookout Point on Casper Mountain Road. Her two young children are now left without their mother.

A 30-year-old mother of two who disappeared after failing to pick up her children from an after-school program has been found dead following a vehicle crash in Wyoming.

Kandice Gunter was identified by the Natrona County Coroner’s Office after emergency crews discovered her gray 2016 GMC Canyon pickup truck down a steep hillside near Lookout Point on Sunday morning, November 1.

According to local reports, the vehicle had broken through a guardrail along Casper Mountain Road, also known as Wyoming Highway 251.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:20 a.m. Gunter was found inside the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said she was the only occupant.

Her death brings a heartbreaking end to a search that had drawn concern from her family and the local community.

Family raised alarm after she failed to collect her children

Gunter was reported missing on Thursday, October 29, after she failed to arrive at the Boys & Girls Club to pick up her two children, ages 9 and 6.

Her sudden disappearance was particularly alarming to relatives because they said it was completely out of character for her to lose contact with the family.

Her sister, Kayla Gunter, had made emotional public appeals for help, explaining that the sisters normally spoke several times a day.

Their last known phone conversation took place at approximately 10:41 a.m. on October 29. After that, Kandice stopped responding to calls and messages.

The family also shared information about her vehicle in hopes that someone might recognize it and help authorities locate her.

A recent move to be closer to her children

Kandice had recently moved from Nevada to Casper, Wyoming, to be closer to her children.

Her family said she had been staying with the children’s father and helping care for them.

The move had brought her closer to the people who mattered most in her life. But just days after she was reported missing, the search ended with the discovery of her vehicle on the mountainside.

Police investigate circumstances of the crash

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Authorities have said there is currently no evidence suggesting foul play or the involvement of another person. However, investigators have not publicly established what caused the pickup truck to leave the roadway.

Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Casper Police Department, Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Casper Fire-EMS and the Natrona County Fire Protection District.

Traffic along Casper Mountain Road was temporarily reduced to one lane as emergency crews worked at the crash site.

For Kandice’s family, the news has brought an end to the uncertainty of the missing-person search, but at an unimaginable cost.

Her two children, aged 9 and 6, have lost their mother. Loved ones who had spent days hoping she would come home are now left grieving a devastating loss.

May Kandice rest in peace, and may her children and family find strength and support in the difficult days ahead.
