NICU Babies Celebrate the Power of Reading at the 3rd Annual Read-A-Thon

NICU Families Unite for Early Literacy at Annual Read-A-Thon Event
Earlier this month, our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) teams proudly participated in the 3rd Annual Read-A-Thon organized by Babies with Books. This meaningful initiative focused on promoting the importance of early childhood reading, especially for newborns receiving care in the NICU.

Throughout the event, it was truly inspiring to witness NICU families gathering beside their babies’ incubators and hospital beds to read aloud stories filled with warmth and love. Despite the clinical environment and the challenges many families are facing, these moments created a sense of calm, connection, and hope.
Early reading plays a vital role in supporting brain development, language acquisition, and emotional bonding. For infants in the NICU, hearing their parents’ voices through reading provides comfort and familiarity, even in the earliest and most delicate stages of life. The Read-A-Thon not only emphasized developmental benefits but also strengthened the emotional bond between parents and their newborns during a time that can often feel uncertain and overwhelming.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Babies with Books for organizing such a thoughtful and impactful event. Their continued dedication to encouraging early literacy and family engagement makes a lasting difference in the lives of children and parents alike.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to all the NICU families who participated. Your presence, patience, and love created a powerful reminder of the strength of early connection and the importance of reading from the very beginning of life.
