JASMINE’S RADIANCE: THE FIGHT FOR DIGNITY AND CARE 👑✨💛

JASMINE’S RADIANCE: THE FIGHT FOR DIGNITY AND CARE 👑✨💛

1. The “Princess and the Frog” Spirit

It is fitting that Tiana is one of Jasmine’s favorites. Like Tiana, Jasmine is a worker—fighting through the complexities of Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and PVL (Periventricular Leukomalacia) since she was just 32 weeks old. PVL involves damage to the white matter of the brain, which often affects motor function, yet it hasn’t touched her ability to be “expressive and affectionate.” Her smile is her signature, a tool she uses to command the room and connect with everyone she meets.

2. The Current Battle: ICU and Septic Shock

Septic shock is a life-threatening condition where the body’s response to infection causes organ dysfunction. For someone with Jasmine’s complex medical history, this is an immense hurdle. The fact that she is “showing signs of improvement” while on a ventilator is proof of her “warrior” status. She is fighting for the chance to get back to the things she loves—the hair appointments, the music, and the laughter.

3. The Essential Need: A Wheelchair-Accessible Van

As Jasmine matures, the logistics of her care change. What was once manageable in a standard vehicle now becomes a safety risk.

  • Safety First: A specialized van allows Jasmine to remain securely in her wheelchair, reducing the risk of injury during transfers—especially critical given her hip dysplasia.

  • Access to Life: This van isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a key to the world. It represents the ability to reach life-saving medical appointments, but also the “dignity” of attending her day program and being part of her community.

4. Supporting the “Joy-Bringer”

Jasmine has spent 22 years giving her “signature look” and her affection to those around her. Now, the roles have shifted. Her family’s plea for a van is a plea for sustainability. It’s about ensuring that the person who brings so much joy into the world can move through it safely and with the comfort she deserves.
