Rescue Flight Successfully Delivers 16 Beagles from Ridglan Farms to New Homes

A group of 16 rescued beagles safely arrived at their new destination Saturday night after being flown out of Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport by Pilots To The Rescue, marking another milestone in a large-scale effort to relocate nearly 1,500 beagles from the Ridglan Farms breeding facility.

The mission was coordinated alongside Second Chance Rescue, as part of a broader initiative to ensure the safe transfer of the dogs to rehabilitation centers, foster homes, and adoption networks across the United States. The 16 puppies aboard the rescue flight landed in New Jersey, while additional groups of dogs were transported by other means: 30 dogs traveled by van to New York, and 16 more were taken to Virginia.

Pilot August Lim, who helped operate the flight, described the experience as deeply emotional. “I was happy to play a part in it. It was emotional for everyone involved, knowing how hard people worked to reach this day,” he said.

The massive rescue operation followed an agreement in which Ridglan Farms sold 1,500 dogs to organizations dedicated to animal welfare, including Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy. Many of the rescued beagles will remain in Wisconsin for rehabilitation and eventual adoption, while others begin journeys to shelters and foster families nationwide.

For many of these dogs, the flight represented a first in more than just travel. It may have been their first experience walking on grass, living in a home, receiving consistent affection, or moving toward freedom instead of confinement.

For volunteers, staff, and pilots involved, Saturday’s rescue flight was about far more than transportation. It symbolized a new beginning, a step toward hope, care, and the chance for these dogs to experience lives they were previously denied.

The operation highlights the ongoing importance of animal welfare organizations and rescue efforts, demonstrating how collaboration, dedication, and compassion can transform the lives of animals who have endured years of neglect.
