NINE SURGERIES BEFORE SIX MONTHS OLD PFEIFFER SYNDROME TESTED CALI BUT NOTHING COULD DIM HER BRIGHT LITTLE SPIRIT

After enduring nine surgeries before she was even six months old, little Cali continues to shine through the challenges of Pfeiffer syndrome with a spirit nothing can break.
Cali was diagnosed at birth with Pfeiffer Syndrome, a rare condition that caused the soft spots in her skull to close too early. The condition led to serious complications, especially with her breathing, requiring her to rely on both a trach and ventilator to help her breathe safely.

Instead of spending her first months at home surrounded by quiet moments and family routines, Cali spent five months and one week in the hospital fighting through surgeries, treatments, and long days in the NICU.
Before even reaching six months old, she had already undergone nine surgeries.

Among the most difficult were a craniectomy and tracheostomy — major procedures meant to help relieve pressure and support her breathing. Through every operation, her family stood beside her, watching their tiny daughter show strength far beyond her age.

Despite everything she has endured, Cali’s personality continues to shine brightly.
Her favorite companion is a pink stuffed bunny named Mrs. Bunny, a special gift from one of her NICU nurses during Easter. The toy quickly became her source of comfort throughout her hospital stay.

“Mrs. Bunny will always remind us of how loving and incredible her nurses were,” her mother shared. “They became family to us during the hardest time of our lives.”
Now finally home, Cali is beginning to enjoy the little things many parents often take for granted — kicking on her play mat, bath time with dad, and peaceful naps in her own crib.

“She loves moving around and finding ways to roll completely off her mat,” her parents laughed. “She’s tiny, but she already has such a big personality.”
For her mother, one moment remains unforgettable: seeing Cali breathe calmly without the ventilator for the very first time.

“I held her hand and looked into her eyes, and she did so well,” she said. “That moment gave me hope. It reminded me how strong she is and how deep our bond will always be.”
Her father says bringing Cali home after months of traveling back and forth to the hospital was a moment he will cherish forever.

“Taking her outside for the first time, her first car ride, seeing her sleep in her crib — those moments meant everything to me,” he shared. “I realized that as long as I’m with Cali, that’s all I need.”
