Woman, 40, Arrested for Allegedly Helping Fugitive Father Convicted in Baby Daughter’s Death

A 40-year-old woman from Milton Keynes has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender after helping a man who was convicted of causing the death of his seven-month-old baby daughter by dangerous driving.
Emmanuel Sakyi, 31, was found guilty last month of causing death by dangerous driving. He was sentenced in his absence to 15 years in prison after failing to appear at Aylesbury Crown Court.
Sakyi is still on the run. Police are actively hunting him.
The Tragic Incident
In December 2022, Sakyi was driving a grey Peugeot 508 on the wrong side of the road on Bletcham Way in Milton Keynes while more than twice the legal alcohol limit. He collided head-on with a green Fiat 500.
His seven-month-old daughter, Emmanuela, who was sitting unrestrained on her mother’s lap in the front passenger seat, suffered fatal injuries and died in hospital. The crash caused catastrophic damage to Sakyi’s vehicle.
Sakyi fled the scene after the collision. Prosecutors noted he failed to secure his daughter in a proper car seat.

Court Outcomes
- Emmanuela’s mother, Ruth Oppong (34), was convicted of aiding and abetting causing death by dangerous driving and causing unnecessary suffering to a child. She received a one-year-and-nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
- Sakyi remains wanted by Thames Valley Police.
Recent Arrest
Detective Inspector Justin Thomas said the woman arrested is suspected of helping Sakyi evade justice. She has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
“Emmanuela’s death was entirely preventable,” said DI Thomas, urging anyone harbouring Sakyi or with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
Description of Emmanuel Sakyi: Black man, medium build, black hair, brown eyes, approximately 5ft 3in (160cm) tall.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting reference 20260622-2396, or report online. In an emergency, call 999.
