AFTER JOYFULLY PREPARING FOR TRIPLETS, THIS COUPLE TREASURED JUST FOUR PRECIOUS HOURS WITH THE THREE BABIES THEY HAD WAITED SO LONG TO MEET

When newlyweds Jason and Marie Taylor were told they were expecting triplets, they could hardly believe the wonderful news.

The couple, both in their 30s, had always dreamed of starting a family. After marrying in May, they were thrilled to learn that three tiny lives were growing together — two girls and a boy. They lovingly chose the names Bernadette, Christine, and Adam long before they were due to arrive.

“We were so excited,” Jason later recalled. “We couldn’t wait to meet them.”

Like many first-time parents, the couple immediately began preparing their home. Three cribs were carefully arranged upstairs, tiny spaces were made ready, and every evening Jason would lean close to Marie’s growing baby bump to speak to each child by name.

“Hi, Adam… Hi, Bernadette… Hi, Christine,” he would whisper. “I love you. I can’t wait to meet you.”

Before leaving for work each morning, he would gently add, “Take good care of your mommy.”

Although caring for three growing babies placed enormous demands on Marie’s pregnancy, regular checkups continued to bring encouraging news. But at just 22 weeks, everything changed.

Only a day after a reassuring ultrasound appointment, Marie began experiencing unusual abdominal pain that quickly became more regular. The couple rushed to the hospital, hoping doctors could stop the early labor.

Instead, they received heartbreaking news.

Marie was already four centimeters dilated, and there was nothing that could prevent the babies from arriving far earlier than expected.

Jason stood beside his wife, trying to process what was happening. Then he realized something that would stay with him forever.

“I had been focused on Marie,” he later shared. “Then I thought… our babies must be frightened too.”

He bent close once again, speaking to them with the same gentle words they had heard throughout the pregnancy.

“I love you, my babies,” he whispered. “We’re here with you.”

In the early hours of November 15, Bernadette, Christine, and Adam entered the world, each weighing between 360 and 450 grams.

Jason remembers how beautiful they were.

“They were so full of life and so perfectly formed,” he said. “Their tiny noses, little fingers, tiny fingernails… they were absolutely beautiful.”

The family spent the next several hours holding their babies close, talking to them, praying over them, and surrounding them with love.

“We held them, looked at them, talked to them, and loved them with all our hearts,” Marie said. “Those moments will stay with us forever.”

Soon afterward, grandparents, relatives, and loved ones arrived to meet the three little babies and say goodbye. Nurses carefully made keepsakes from their tiny footprints and dressed each baby in small handmade outfits and hats, creating treasured memories the family would carry forever.

When it came time to lay the babies to rest, Marie’s father insisted they deserved the same dignity as anyone else.

“They had a life,” he said. “They were born, they were loved, and they will always be part of this family.”

Marie’s brother handcrafted a small wooden casket decorated with three crosses so Bernadette, Christine, and Adam could remain together, just as they had throughout their journey.

Those who attended the service said Jason’s words left hardly a dry eye in the room.

Rather than focusing only on grief, he spoke about the unique beauty of each child — the tiny fingernails of his daughters, the delicate features of his son, and the brief but meaningful moments they shared together.

Although their time together was far shorter than Jason and Marie had dreamed, the couple says their three children changed their lives forever.

“Our babies were deeply loved from the very beginning,” Jason said. “Every moment we had with them mattered.”
