At just six months old, little Luka has already shown a level of courage that many spend a lifetime discovering.

Born on August 10, alongside his twin brother, Josiah Jr., Luka entered the world with a bilateral cleft lip and palate as well as the exceptionally rare Tessier 3 cleft—a condition that has shaped every step of his young life from the very beginning.

While welcoming twins should have been filled with joyful milestones, Luka’s parents quickly found themselves navigating specialist appointments, medical uncertainty, and a future that would require extraordinary strength.

Despite the challenges, they say Luka continues to amaze everyone around him.

“From the very beginning, he has shown us what true strength looks like,” his family shared.

The little boy’s surgeries are essential to support his ability to eat, speak, breathe, and continue developing as he grows. But reaching those operations has not been easy.

Over the past six months, several planned procedures have been postponed because of recurring illnesses and unexpected insurance complications. Each delay has meant waiting even longer for the care Luka needs, leaving his family balancing hope with uncertainty.

Now, with multiple surgeries scheduled in the coming months, Luka’s parents are preparing for another difficult chapter.

Doctors expect he will undergo three to four operations this year alone, with additional procedures likely throughout his childhood and beyond, allowing him to decide for himself when he is satisfied with the outcome later in life.

The journey extends far beyond the operating room.

The family is facing mounting expenses, including medical costs not covered by insurance, specialist care, travel for hospital visits, temporary accommodation during treatment, and time away from work so they can remain by Luka’s side throughout his recovery.

“As parents, asking for help is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do,” they said. “But Luka deserves for us to be with him every step of the way.”

Although his road ahead is long, Luka continues to greet the world with quiet determination, surrounded by a family whose love never wavers.

For his parents, every hospital visit, every delayed surgery, and every obstacle is simply another step toward giving their little boy the future he deserves.

They remain hopeful that, with the support of others and the care of his medical team, Luka will continue proving that even the smallest fighters can inspire the biggest hearts.
