God’s Faithfulness in Emma’s Journey

God continues to show His love and mercy over Emma’s life, even in the middle of uncertainty. Today, we had a meeting about the possibility of going home soon. We still do not have an exact date, and there is still so much for us to learn, prepare for, and understand before that day comes. But the fact that we can even begin having these conversations feels like a miracle in itself.
Emma is doing much better today than she was over the weekend, and for that, we are deeply thankful. However, she did develop a fever, which means her kidney treatment will likely need to be delayed for a day or two. It is another reminder that this road is not simple, and every step forward still comes with challenges. But even in the delays, we are choosing to trust God.
Please continue praying for Emma.
Please pray that she will be strong enough to have surgery for a feeding tube to be placed into her stomach. Pray for her brain, her blood sugars, her heart, and her overall strength. Pray for her body to be ready for a reverse ileostomy surgery when the time comes. Pray that she will begin moving her arms and legs voluntarily. Pray for her ability to swallow, to speak, and to interact more with the world around her. Pray for her healing, her comfort, her peace, and for wisdom for every doctor, nurse, therapist, and specialist caring for her.
There are still many conversations ahead. There will be lots of physical therapy, occupational therapy, training, planning, and countless small steps before we are ready to bring her home. We know we are bringing home a different Emma than the one we brought into the hospital. She has been through so much. Her little body has faced changes we never imagined, and there are still many more changes and adjustments ahead.

But our hope is not only in recovery. Our hope is not only in a good outcome. Our hope is in God.
We trust the Father who has poured out His mercy over Emma again and again. We trust the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We trust the One who has carried us through every impossible moment and given us grace when we had no strength left of our own.
I am not a strong person. I know that clearly now more than ever. But by God’s strength, I can say: it is going to be okay. Not because everything is easy. Not because we know exactly what tomorrow will bring. But because God has already given us what we need for this moment, and we believe He will continue to give us what we need for every moment ahead.
Please keep praying with us. Keep trusting God with us. Praise Him for His lovingkindness that has been poured out over our family. Praise Him that we are even able to talk about Emma coming home one day. That alone is amazing.
God is so good. He is faithful. He has not left us, and He will not leave Emma.
Put your hope in Him. In Him alone, we can find peace. In Him alone, we can find joy, even in trials, pain, waiting, and uncertainty.
Thank You, Jesus, for all You have done. Thank You for all You are still doing. We trust You completely. Please continue to carry Emma, and continue to carry us.
