HADLEY ANN SELF’S FIRST BIRTHDAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A CELEBRATION, BUT HER FAMILY IS HONORING THE LITTLE GIRL THEY NEVER GOT TO WATCH GROW

As her first birthday approaches, Hadley Ann Self is being remembered not for how little time she had, but for the immeasurable love she brought into the lives of those who cherished her.

Hadley was born on March 3 at just 32 weeks after a placental rupture. Weighing 4½ pounds and measuring 17½ inches, her mother remembers her as a beautiful, remarkably developed little girl.

“She was born sleeping,” her mother shared. “She was so big and so healthy.”

Although Hadley never had the chance to grow up, her brief journey was already one filled with love. From the moment her family learned they were expecting her, she was treasured, spoken about and eagerly awaited.

Her arrival came far earlier than anyone had hoped, after an unexpected pregnancy complication changed everything. Her family was left facing the heartbreak of saying goodbye to a daughter they had dreamed of watching grow, celebrate birthdays and create memories of her own.

Hadley was later laid to rest beside her papa, keeping two deeply loved family members together.

Now, with her first birthday drawing near, her family is facing another tender milestone — one that brings both love and sorrow.

There will be no candles to blow out or birthday memories to make, but there will be a name spoken with love, photographs held close and a little girl whose life will never be forgotten.

For Hadley’s mama and family, grief continues because the love continues.

“Hadley matters,” her family’s story reminds us. “Her name is spoken. Her life is honored.”
