Dad breaks Guardian Mile record in Cleveland race while pushing 1-year-old daughter in stroller

Dr. Biebelhausen and Blake finished the stroller division mile in 4:17, setting a Guardian Mile record and unofficially surpassing the previous world-best mark.
CLEVELAND — Dr. Stephen Biebelhausen, an Ohio emergency medicine physician with Cleveland Clinic, is gaining national attention after he blazed across the finish line during the Guardian Mile at a record-breaking pace — and he did it all while pushing his 1-year-old daughter, Blake, in a stroller while she excitedly kicked her legs.

Cleveland Clinic shared details on their Facebook page of Biebelhausen’s incredible feat, which happened during the event in downtown Cleveland on Aug. 8.
“Dr. Biebelhausen and Blake finished the stroller division mile in 4:17, setting a Guardian Mile record and unofficially surpassing the previous world-best mark of 4:26,” according to their Facebook post. “The accomplishment wasn’t something Dr. Biebelhausen set out to achieve. He entered the race hoping to have fun with his daughter and run alongside a friend who was competing that evening.”
You can watch the epic moment in the video below:
“My wife is also a runner,” Biebelhausen said in the Cleveland Clinic’s post. “We got a jogging stroller from friends and thought we’d see if Blake liked it once she was old enough. We started running together in the spring, and she took to it right away.”
And then there’s this…
“Race night nearly came with one challenge,” according to Cleveland Clinic’s post. “The event started around 7:40 p.m., past Blake’s bedtime. Not only did she make it through the mile, but she seemed to enjoy every minute of it.”
Here’s how the Guardian Mile is described on the event’s site:
