COLLEGE STUDENT KILLED BY POLICE AFTER ALLEGEDLY GOING TO THE WRONG HOUSE

UPPER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 22-year-old college student and baseball player was killed in an officer-involved shooting after his family said he mistakenly went to the wrong home following a night out with friends.

Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher IV was fatally shot around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, after Upper Pottsgrove Township police responded to a 911 call reporting a possible attempted break-in at a residence on Snyder Road. Authorities said officers found Pysher in the rear of the property, where an encounter followed and police fired, fatally striking him.

HIS FAMILY SAYS HE HAD THE WRONG ADDRESS

Pysher had reportedly been celebrating a friend’s birthday with a group earlier that night.

According to his mother, Erin Pysher, he later walked alone to what he believed was his friend’s house. After drinking and navigating a wooded area in the dark, she said, he became confused and ended up at the wrong property.

His father said Pysher was communicating with his friends by video call shortly before the incident. They reportedly realized he was at the wrong address and were on their way to pick him up.

POLICE WERE CALLED OVER A POSSIBLE BREAK-IN

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said officers were dispatched after a homeowner reported a possible attempted break-in.

When officers arrived, Pysher was found behind the residence. Officials have not publicly provided a detailed account of the confrontation or explained what prompted the officer to use lethal force.

The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is investigating the incident, following standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.

HIS FAMILY SAYS HE WAS UNARMED

Pysher’s parents have said their son was not carrying a weapon.

His father told PEOPLE that Pysher had a cellphone and backpack with him. His family is now seeking answers about exactly what happened between the officers’ arrival and the fatal encounter.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed all details of what Pysher was doing immediately before officers fired.

HE WAS DAYS AWAY FROM RETURNING TO COLLEGE

Pysher had recently turned 22 and was preparing to begin his senior year at Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey.

He was also a baseball catcher and had been looking forward to another season with the team. Friends and relatives described him as outgoing, kind and deeply passionate about baseball.

His death came just one day before he was expected to return to college.

SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE COULD BE IMPORTANT

Investigators are examining evidence surrounding the shooting, including surveillance footage from the residence.

That evidence could help establish Pysher’s movements, the officers’ actions and what happened during the critical moments before the shooting.
