NANCY GUTHRIE MYSTERY DEEPENS AS AUTHORITIES EXAMINE RANSOM NOTES FOR HIDDEN CLUES

More than six months after Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Arizona home, investigators are still searching for answers — and now, the language used in ransom notes has become a major focus of the investigation.

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her Tucson-area home on February 1. Authorities believe she was abducted, but no suspect has been arrested and her whereabouts remain unknown.

The case has generated national attention and continues to be investigated by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI.

In late July, authorities released details from two notes sent to a Tucson television station shortly after Nancy disappeared.

The first note, sent on February 2, claimed Nancy was safe but frightened and demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency in exchange for her release.

A second note, sent several days later, claimed Nancy had died and said she had been buried “in nature.”

Authorities have not publicly confirmed whether the messages were genuinely written by the people responsible for Nancy’s disappearance.

However, investigators believe the notes contain distinctive patterns of word choice, syntax and phrasing that could help identify their author.

Officials are now appealing to anyone who recognizes those linguistic patterns or has interacted with the writer to contact investigators.

New Camera Footage Shows Speeding Car Minutes After Nancy Guthrie's AbductionA MASKED FIGURE WAS CAPTURED ON CAMERA

Investigators have previously released surveillance footage showing a masked individual near Nancy’s home shortly before her disappearance.

Authorities said the person appeared to tamper with Nancy’s doorbell camera and obstruct its view with a plant.

The individual was described as a man of average build, approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Investigators believe the footage could be an important piece of evidence as they attempt to reconstruct what happened at Nancy’s home.

Authorities have also said that the evidence suggests the disappearance may have involved preparation ahead of the abduction.

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE CONTINUES TO PLEAD FOR ANSWERS

Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, has repeatedly appealed directly to whoever may have taken her mother.

In a video message released in July, the NBC “Today” anchor described the past months as an unbearable nightmare and urged those responsible to provide information about where her mother could be found.

The family has continued asking anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward.

A reward exceeding $1 million has also been offered for information that helps locate Nancy.

INVESTIGATORS SAY THE CASE IS STILL ACTIVE

Despite the passage of more than six months, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has repeatedly said investigators have not given up.

In July, Nanos said the investigation remained active and that investigators were still working through DNA and video evidence from multiple sources.

He also expressed confidence that the case could eventually be resolved.

The investigation has also faced controversy. Two men who were detained and later released early in the case have filed claims against the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, alleging they were wrongfully detained.

The sheriff’s office has declined to comment on the legal claims.

THE BIGGEST QUESTIONS REMAIN UNANSWERED

Who took Nancy Guthrie?

Why was she targeted?

Who wrote the ransom notes?

And most importantly — where is Nancy?

Those questions remain at the center of the investigation.

For Savannah Guthrie and her family, the uncertainty has continued for more than half a year.

Investigators are now asking the public to look closely at the details that may seem insignificant — including the unusual language contained in the ransom notes.

A single person recognizing the writing style, a piece of surveillance footage or an overlooked detail could potentially provide the breakthrough investigators have been searching for.

For now, Nancy Guthrie remains missing, and the investigation continues.
