Eight months after the devastating loss of his parents, Jake Reiner is speaking publicly for the first time about the moment his sister Romy called him with news that changed their family forever.

In an emotional interview with KABC-TV, Jake recalled receiving the shocking call from Romy after she discovered their father, filmmaker Rob Reiner, and their mother, Michele Singer Reiner, at their Los Angeles home.

The conversation marked Jake’s first major public interview since his parents’ deaths and the arrest of his younger brother, Nick Reiner, who has been charged in connection with their deaths.

“I LOST MY ENTIRE FAMILY”

Jake described the aftermath as a reality he still struggles to accept.

Each morning, he said, he wakes up confronted by the same painful reality: his parents are gone, while his brother is in custody facing serious charges.

The family tragedy has left Jake and Romy to navigate an unimaginable loss together.

Rather than simply losing his parents, Jake said he also feels that he lost his brother in the aftermath of the tragedy.

THE CALL FROM ROMY

Romy was the first of the siblings to discover that something was terribly wrong.

After their parents failed to respond at home, Romy went to the residence and discovered their father. Emergency services were subsequently called, and investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Jake recalled the moment Romy contacted him as one of the most shocking moments of his life.

NICK REINER HAS PLEADED NOT GUILTY

Nick Reiner, the youngest of Rob and Michele’s children, has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors have also alleged special circumstances, including that the killings involved lying in wait.

Nick has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody.

Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will seek the death penalty. His next major court appearance is scheduled for September 15.

THEIR PARENTS NEVER GAVE UP ON NICK
