73-YEAR-OLD CAMPER VANISHES INTO THE ADIRONDACKS — THEN SEARCHERS FIND HIS EMPTY RV
INLET, N.Y. — A 73-year-old New York man has been missing for more than three weeks after authorities discovered his recreational vehicle sitting unattended at a remote Adirondack campsite.
Now, search teams are scouring the wilderness for Craig K. Streeter, a Mahopac resident whose disappearance has left investigators with a troubling question:
Where did he go after leaving his RV behind?
New York State Police say Streeter was last seen on August 2, 2026, at a Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake.
He was traveling in his RV at the time.
Weeks later, that same RV was found at a remote campsite — but Streeter was nowhere to be found.
THE RV WAS STILL THERE
The search began after New York State Forest Rangers located Streeter’s RV at campsite 36 on Moose River Road in the town of Inlet.
But there was no obvious sign of recent activity.
The discovery immediately raised concern.
Streeter was known to travel and camp in remote areas, and authorities say it was not unusual for him to disappear from contact for short periods.
But this time was different.
He had reportedly been out of contact for weeks.
Authorities subsequently brought additional agencies into the search as efforts to locate him continued.
HIS LAST KNOWN MOVEMENTS
Investigators have established that Streeter was last seen at the Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake on August 2.
He was reportedly wearing a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt and jeans before leaving the store in his RV.
That is currently one of the most important pieces of information investigators have as they attempt to determine where he went next.
The Adirondacks are enormous, heavily wooded and filled with remote areas where a person can quickly become difficult to locate.
For search crews, every trail, road and campsite could potentially matter.
A MAN WHO KNEW THE OUTDOORS
According to authorities, Streeter regularly traveled and camped in remote locations.
That experience may explain why his absence initially did not immediately trigger alarm.
But investigators say the length of time he has now been missing is deeply concerning.
His RV being located without him has only intensified the mystery.
Did Streeter leave the campsite on foot?
Did he travel somewhere else?
Did something happen to him after he left the RV?
At this point, authorities have not publicly provided answers.
NO INDICATION OF FOUL PLAY — SO FAR
Despite the circumstances, police have said there are currently no indications of foul play.
That does not mean the investigation is over.
Search teams continue working to determine what happened and where Streeter may have gone.

But until Streeter is located, each possibility remains open.
