WHAT HAPPENED TO SOLID ROCK CHURCH AFTER MICA MILLER’S DEATH? THE STARTLING FALL OF A MYRTLE BEACH CONGREGATION

Once a thriving Myrtle Beach church led by Pastor John-Paul “JP” Miller, Solid Rock Church has now closed its doors, its property has been sold, and the congregation has dramatically changed following the death of Mica Miller.

For years, Solid Rock Church was closely associated with the Miller family.

But after Mica Miller, the estranged wife of pastor John-Paul Miller, died in April 2024, the church became the center of intense public scrutiny.

Now, more than two years later, the church that once drew a substantial congregation is gone.

THE CHURCH AT THE CENTER OF THE STORM

John-Paul Miller founded Solid Rock and became its senior pastor.

Mica was also deeply involved with the congregation. She served as a worship leader and worked as Miller’s assistant before their relationship eventually became a marriage.

According to accounts from Mica’s friends and family, however, the relationship later became deeply troubled.

They alleged that Miller was controlling and emotionally abusive toward Mica — allegations he has denied.

Mica separated from Miller in 2023 and later pursued divorce proceedings.

On April 27, 2024, she was found deceased at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina. Her death was ruled a suicide.

QUESTIONS SPREAD THROUGH THE COMMUNITY

Mica’s death quickly became the subject of intense public attention.

Friends and relatives publicly raised concerns about her relationship with Miller, while protesters began gathering outside Solid Rock Church under the banner “Justice for Mica.”

The demonstrations continued during church services and became increasingly disruptive.

Miller has denied involvement in Mica’s death, and investigators have not charged him in connection with her death.

However, the controversy surrounding the case continued to grow.

SOLID ROCK EVENTUALLY CLOSED

By November 2024, Solid Rock Church had closed its doors.

Miller’s attorney argued that ongoing protests and harassment had effectively destroyed the congregation.

Attendance had reportedly fallen dramatically following Mica’s death, leaving the church struggling to continue operating.

The closure marked a dramatic end for a ministry that had once been a major part of Miller’s public life.

THE PROPERTY WAS SOLD

The story did not end with the church shutting down.

In February 2025, the Solid Rock property was reportedly sold for approximately $2.1 million.

The buyer planned to redevelop the site, with the existing church building expected to be demolished for condominium development.

A place that had once been filled with worshippers would soon become part of a completely different development.

JOHN-PAUL MILLER HAS NOT DISAPPEARED

Despite the collapse of Solid Rock Church, Miller has continued preaching in the Myrtle Beach area.

He now operates a smaller ministry, with services held at different locations rather than at the former Solid Rock building.

Meanwhile, his legal problems have continued.

In December 2025, a federal grand jury indicted Miller on allegations involving cyberstalking and making false statements to federal investigators.

Miller has pleaded not guilty and has not been charged in connection with Mica’s death. His federal trial is currently scheduled for October 2026.

A CHURCH THAT BECAME PART OF A MUCH BIGGER STORY

The physical building may soon disappear, but the controversy surrounding Solid Rock Church continues.

Mica’s story has now received renewed national attention through Netflix’s three-part documentary “Death of the Pastor’s Wife,” released in August 2026.

The series revisits Mica’s relationship with Miller, the allegations made by her family and friends, and the events surrounding her final days.

For many who followed the case, the collapse of Solid Rock Church represents another chapter in a story that began inside a church community and eventually became a national conversation about relationships, power, control and accountability.

Solid Rock Church is gone. But the questions surrounding what happened to Mica Miller — and what followed her death — are far from over.
