‘INSEPARABLE’ TEEN BEST FRIENDS, 16 AND 17, LOST IN CALIFORNIA CRASH — NOW 5 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ARRESTED

Two teenage best friends who had been inseparable since elementary school were on their way home when a devastating multi-vehicle crash changed everything. Now, five people have been arrested as investigators continue piecing together what happened.

Maddalyn Dailey, 17, and Isabell DeLang, 16, were traveling together in Victorville, California, on Aug. 14 when their vehicle became involved in a hit-and-run collision involving two other cars.

The girls’ families later described them as inseparable and said both had bright futures ahead of them.

A SIMPLE RIDE HOME TURNED TRAGIC

Maddalyn’s father, Dustin Dailey, said his daughter had been giving Isabell a ride home.

She was then expected to return home for dinner.

Instead, the journey ended in a devastating collision.

Dailey told KTLA that he immediately knew something was seriously wrong when he heard the impact.

For the families, the tragedy has left behind memories of two teenagers who had grown up together and shared a close friendship.

POLICE SAY TWO DRIVERS WERE TRAVELING AT EXTREME SPEEDS

According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles were allegedly traveling at extremely high speeds through a residential neighborhood before colliding with the vehicle carrying the girls.

One of the vehicles was reportedly a Dodge Charger driven by 49-year-old George Gary Sanchez.

The second was allegedly a Chevrolet Camaro driven by 50-year-old Terry Lamar Easter.

Authorities say Easter fled the scene following the collision.

Sanchez was arrested shortly after the crash, while Easter surrendered to authorities on Aug. 26 following a multi-day search.

FIVE PEOPLE ARRESTED

The investigation eventually led to the arrests of five people.

Sanchez and Easter were booked on suspicion of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter with negligence, according to the CHP.

Three additional people — Ryan James Lewis, Lukevy Shawntell Yates and Madge Wells — were arrested on suspicion of being accessories.

Authorities said those three cooperated with investigators and were later released.

The two primary suspects remain at the center of the investigation, and it was not immediately clear whether either had entered a plea or retained an attorney to comment on the allegations.

‘SO MUCH LIFE AHEAD’

The girls’ loved ones have focused on who Maddalyn and Isabell were rather than the circumstances surrounding their final moments.

Their respective families described them as having “so much life ahead.”

Maddalyn and Isabell had reportedly been friends since elementary school and attended Sultana High School together.

For their families, the arrests cannot undo the loss.

But investigators hope the developments will help establish exactly what happened during those critical moments on the road.

THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

CHP officials said the arrests demonstrate their commitment to pursuing accountability in the case.

Authorities are continuing to examine the crash, the movements of the vehicles involved and what happened immediately afterward.

For two families who lost teenagers they described as inseparable, the investigation is now about more than determining responsibility.

It is about understanding how a routine ride between two best friends ended in an unimaginable tragedy — and ensuring that the full sequence of events is finally brought to light.
