Duane “Keffe D” Davis Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder in Tupac Shakur Case Nearly 30 Years Later

A Las Vegas jury has found Duane “Keffe D” Davis, 63, guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the 1996 killing of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur.

The verdict, reached on August 31, 2026, marks the first conviction in the Tupac Shakur murder case nearly three decades after the rapper was fatally shot in Las Vegas. Davis is also the only person who has ever been charged in connection with the case.

Prosecutors argued that Davis was responsible for orchestrating the attack even though he was not the person who fired the fatal shots. They alleged that Davis supplied the weapon and helped arrange the shooting after an earlier confrontation involving Tupac and his entourage and Davis’s nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson.

The jury reportedly deliberated for less than three hours before reaching its verdict, bringing a major development to one of the most closely watched unsolved murder cases in music history.

Davis has maintained his position in the case and has stated that he intends to appeal the conviction.

He is scheduled to appear for sentencing on October 13, 2026. Under the applicable sentencing possibilities, Davis could face life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
