KIM ZOLCIAK AND KROY BIERMANN’S 15-YEAR-OLD SON INDICTED ON 7 FELONY CHARGES — THE CASE THAT HAS SHOCKED THE REALITY TV FAMILY

The case involving Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s teenage son has taken a dramatic turn.

Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., the 15-year-old son of the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star and retired NFL player, has now been formally indicted by a Georgia grand jury on seven felony charges stemming from an alleged incident involving a teenage girl earlier this year.

The indictment dramatically expands the charges KJ was originally facing.

He is now accused of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment and three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16, according to court records reported by PEOPLE and multiple Atlanta news outlets.

But the case is far from settled.

KJ has denied the allegations through his attorney, while his mother has publicly defended him and urged people not to assume guilt before the evidence is heard in court.

And now, with the teenager still in custody, the family’s already bitter legal battle has become even more complicated.

THE ALLEGED INCIDENT

According to police and court documents, the case centers on an alleged encounter on April 23, 2026, at a Life Time Fitness facility in Alpharetta, Georgia.

The alleged victim was also 15 at the time.

Authorities say the teenager was in a changing area at the fitness center when the alleged incident occurred. Police later obtained surveillance footage that reportedly placed KJ at the facility, even though investigators said he had not formally scanned into the gym that day.

The girl later reported the incident to authorities.

According to previously reported court documents, she alleged that KJ restrained her and engaged in sexual acts without her consent.

She eventually managed to leave the area.

The following day, according to the documents, she went to school but later left after experiencing what she described as a panic attack. She then contacted her family and was taken for a medical examination.

That examination has since become an important point of contention in the case.

THE DNA QUESTION

Medical testing conducted after the alleged incident reportedly found no male DNA in the areas examined.

That finding has been repeatedly highlighted by KJ’s defense team and by his mother.

KJ’s attorney, Jason Sheffield, has maintained that his client is innocent.

The attorney has also said KJ voluntarily took a polygraph examination and that the results supported his account.

Those claims, however, are part of the defense position and do not determine the outcome of the criminal case.

A grand jury’s indictment likewise does not establish guilt. It means prosecutors have obtained sufficient grounds under the applicable legal process to formally move the case forward.

KIM ZOLCIAK SPEAKS OUT

Kim Zolciak has been one of the strongest public voices defending her son.

Following his arrest, the reality television personality described the allegations as extremely troubling and said KJ categorically denied the accusations.

She also pointed to the reported lack of DNA evidence and said her son had taken a polygraph examination.

Zolciak urged the public to allow the legal process to play out rather than judging her son based solely on allegations.

Her position has remained consistent: she says she believes the evidence will ultimately establish what really happened.

KJ’s attorney has taken an equally firm position.

Sheffield has described his client as innocent and argued that the teenager should not be publicly condemned before the evidence is tested in court.

FROM TWO CHARGES TO SEVEN

The case has now escalated significantly.

When KJ was initially arrested on August 17, he faced two felony allegations — aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual battery.

The new indictment contains seven felony counts.

The expanded charges include aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment and three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16.

The development means the teenager now faces a much broader criminal case than the one that first brought him into custody.

WHY KJ IS BEING HANDLED IN ADULT COURT

Despite being only 15, KJ’s case has entered the adult criminal system because of the seriousness of the allegations.

Earlier reporting noted that Georgia law allows certain serious felony cases involving juveniles to begin in adult court.

That distinction has added another layer of complexity to a case already drawing enormous public attention because of KJ’s famous parents.

The teenager remains at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center in Atlanta while the case proceeds.

His next court appearance is currently scheduled for September 9, according to PEOPLE’s latest report.

A FAMILY ALREADY UNDER ENORMOUS PRESSURE

The legal case comes at an especially difficult moment for KJ’s family.

Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann have been involved in a highly publicized and contentious divorce and custody dispute.
