A RISING American racing star aged only 15 has died in hospital after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a horror crash.

Bayne Nantz was involved in an accident in a Flat Track motorcycle race at Peoria TT in Bartonville, Illinois, on August 22.

The teen racing ace was taking part in the Dan Bromley Memorial, an event honoring another late competitor who died in a crash.

His family shared a heartbreaking post on social media confirming that Nantz had succumbed to his injuries and sadly passed away.

Nantz died on September 1 after battling a number of issues, including a ‘severe traumatic brain injury and bleeding’ that he was not expected to recover from.

The youngster also broke his hip and pelvis, suffered a lacerated bladder, dislocated elbow and shoulder and bruised lung and heart in the crash.

His family described his final few days as “the worst experience of our lives” and said “it put us through hell”.

They added that they “said goodbye” multiple times in hospital before Nantz sadly died ten days on from the devastating accident.

Only four months ago in May, American Flat Track said that ‘Bayne Nantz is a name to remember’ after he won the AFT ProSport 450 ThrottleFest race.

Nantz’s family said in 2013 that he had ‘dreams of going pro in the American Flat Track Series, and has proven the natural ability to make that reality’, via a GoFundMe page.
