Former Team USA Triathlete Spencer Korwin Dies in Drowning Accident on Shelter Island

Spencer Korwin, a 38-year-old former Team USA triathlete, has died by drowning while vacationing with his family on Shelter Island, New York.

Korwin went swimming near The Pridwin Hotel at approximately 8 a.m. on September 2, 2026. He subsequently went missing, prompting a search operation in the area.

After roughly seven hours of searching, rescue teams discovered Korwin’s body beneath the hotel’s dock. His death was treated as a drowning, bringing a devastating end to what had been a family vacation.
