😢💔 HANNAH ISRAEL THOUGHT SHE’D HAVE HEEHAW FOR YEARS. THEN, ONE NIGHT, EVERYTHING CHANGED.

He was only one year old.

A bottle-raised donkey who had grown up around people, loved attention and was known as a gentle animal.

To Hannah Israel, HeeHaw wasn’t livestock.

He was family.

But shortly after midnight on August 30, officers searching for a missing child entered the farm property in Rockmart, Georgia.

They encountered HeeHaw.

According to the officer’s account, the donkey charged toward the officers. A Taser reportedly failed to stop him, and the officer then fired, killing HeeHaw. The officer has since been placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.

But Hannah tells a very different story.

She says HeeHaw was friendly, bottle-raised and accustomed to people. She disputes that he was aggressive and believes he was simply reacting to strangers entering his pasture.

Now, the little donkey who once greeted visitors at the farm is gone.

And Hannah is left with the question no grieving owner should ever have to ask:

Did HeeHaw really have to die?

She has shared memories of his final days and launched a fundraiser to care for the farm’s remaining animals and establish a foundation in his memory.

Thousands of people have responded.

Not because HeeHaw was famous.

Not because he was valuable.

But because to one family, he mattered.

He was a little donkey who trusted people.

A little donkey who made people smile.

A little donkey who should have had many more years ahead of him.
