Baby Agathe entered the world after just 26 weeks of pregnancy, weighing only 770 grams — roughly the weight of two grapefruits.

From her very first moments, doctors knew she faced an extraordinary medical journey. Agathe was born with serious problems affecting her pulmonary artery, heart and trachea, leaving her family facing an uncertain future.

Her first year was filled with hospital stays and more than 18 surgeries, including several procedures involving her trachea and a complex open-heart operation that lasted almost 12 hours.

For her parents, every procedure brought another wave of worry — but also another reason to keep believing in their little girl.

“There were so many moments when we were frightened, but Agathe kept surprising us with her strength,” her family shared. “We just wanted to give her every chance to grow, smile and experience life outside the hospital.”

Just before her first birthday, that long-awaited moment finally arrived: Agathe was able to go home.

Today, the little girl who once spent so much of her early life surrounded by medical teams is bright, happy and full of energy. Her remarkable journey has even led her to become a proud ambassador for the Children’s Hospital’s annual Caring for Kids Radiothon, helping bring hope to other children and families.

“Seeing her smile today is something we will never take for granted,” her family said. “She has shown us that even the smallest beginnings can lead to the most beautiful stories.”
