HE DIDN’T WANT TO LEAVE… SIR TOM JONES IS OUT OF THE VOICE UK AFTER 13 YEARS AS ITV UNVEILS A SHOCK NEW LINE-UP

The legendary Welsh singer says he was not ready to walk away — but ITV is moving forward with a dramatically different coaching panel for 2027.

For more than a decade, Sir Tom Jones has been one of the defining faces of The Voice UK.

Now, his extraordinary run has come to an end.

After 13 seasons in the famous red chair, the 86-year-old Welsh music legend will not return for the show’s next series — and he has made clear that leaving was not his choice.

The bombshell came as ITV announced a major overhaul of The Voice UK for Series 15, with a completely new coaching line-up and new hosts.

Tom has spoken publicly about his departure, saying he was effectively fired from the programme and that he did not want his long-running role to end.

According to reports, ITV told him the decision was connected to difficulties surrounding insurance and costs. Tom said he was offered a substantially reduced role, which he chose not to accept.

His comments have added an unexpected emotional layer to what ITV initially presented simply as a major refresh of the programme.

For viewers who have watched Tom turn his chair for aspiring singers year after year, the change marks the end of one of the show’s most recognisable eras.

ITV has now revealed its Series 15 line-up.

Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon will take over as hosts, while Aitch and Cheryl will make their debuts as coaches.

They will be joined by Kelly Rowland, returning for her second series, and longtime coach will.i.am.

The next series is scheduled to air in 2027.

ITV thanked Sir Tom for what it described as his years of unforgettable contributions to the programme, praising the joy he brought to audiences and the singers who performed for him.

But there was no indication in ITV’s official announcement that Tom had personally chosen to step away.

A 13-YEAR RUN COMES TO AN END

Tom first became part of The Voice UK coaching line-up in the show’s early years and became one of its most enduring figures.

Over the years, his unmistakable voice, humour and emotional reactions became part of the show’s identity.

His departure is therefore more than just another change to a reality-TV panel.

It represents the end of an era.

And the timing has made the announcement even more striking.

Just months earlier, ITV’s own promotional material had confirmed Tom’s return alongside will.i.am, Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Kelly Rowland for Series 14.

Now, the next series will look almost completely different.

FANS REACT TO THE SHOCK EXIT

The announcement has already triggered an emotional reaction from viewers, with some fans expressing disappointment over the decision and others questioning how the show will feel without its veteran coach.

Tom’s own comments have only intensified that reaction.

Rather than a simple retirement from television, his departure has been portrayed as a decision he did not want to make.

For a performer who has spent years encouraging singers to follow their dreams, walking away from the red chair was apparently not the ending he had imagined.

THE VOICE UK WITHOUT TOM

The next chapter of The Voice UK will bring a new generation of personalities to the famous red chairs.

Cheryl and Aitch will bring new coaching perspectives, while Kelly Rowland returns and will.i.am remains as the show’s longest-serving coach.

But one familiar face will be missing.

Sir Tom Jones.

After 13 seasons, countless auditions and years of unforgettable television moments, one of The Voice UK’s most iconic eras has officially come to an end.

And according to Tom himself, he wasn’t ready to say goodbye.
