LUISA AMANDA MENDIETA LOPEZ HAS BEEN MISSING SINCE SEPT. 9, AND AUTHORITIES SAY THERE ARE SERIOUS CONCERNS FOR HER SAFETY

A desperate search is underway in Los Angeles for a 15-year-old girl who has been missing for several days, with authorities warning that there are heightened concerns for her safety.

Luisa Amanda Mendieta Lopez was last seen at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the 1400 block of 105th Street in South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

By Friday, Sept. 11, the LASD had issued a special bulletin asking the public to help locate the teenager.

SHE HAS BEEN CLASSIFIED AS “CRITICALLY MISSING”

Authorities have described Lopez as a 15-year-old Hispanic female, approximately 5 feet tall and 130 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes.

Investigators do not know what clothing she was wearing when she disappeared, making public assistance even more important.

The teenager’s disappearance has been classified as critical, a designation used when authorities have particular concerns about a missing person’s safety.

According to LASD, those circumstances can include a person having no history of running away, potentially needing medical attention, being mentally impaired, or possibly being the victim of a crime or foul play.

INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE SHE MAY BE HEADING NORTH

One detail has particularly caught investigators’ attention.

Authorities believe Lopez may be heading toward San Francisco, although the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unclear.
