A family in Indiana experienced an unforgettable moment when their newborn son was born weighing an astounding 16 pounds, making him the largest baby ever delivered at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Waylon Cole Hallett arrived via C-section, measuring 24.5 inches long and tipping the scales at more than double the size of an average newborn. While doctors had previously estimated his weight at around 11 pounds during a late-term ultrasound, his actual birth weight completely caught the medical staff off guard. The delivery room was filled with complete disbelief, leading nurses and doctors to weigh the newborn three separate times just to confirm the scale was functioning correctly.

Waylon’s mother, Whitney, had been diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her pregnancy, a condition that can frequently contribute to significantly higher birth weights. Due to his extraordinary size, the newborn required seven weeks of specialized care in the neonatal intensive care unit to resolve minor breathing and feeding challenges.
