BEVERLEY CALLARD SHARES EMOTIONAL HEALTH UPDATE AMID CANCER BATTLE: ‘IT’S NOT GREAT NEWS’
Beverley Callard has shared an emotional health update with fans after doctors discovered severe inflammation in the upper part of her stomach during recent tests amid her ongoing breast cancer treatment.
The 69-year-old former Coronation Street star has been keeping followers updated throughout her cancer journey, but her latest hospital visit brought another round of tests and uncertainty.
In a recent Instagram video, Beverley explained that doctors had examined both her oesophagus and stomach after she had been experiencing persistent nausea.
She said her oesophagus was completely clear, but doctors found that her upper stomach was “really, badly inflamed.”
SEVERAL BIOPSIES WERE TAKEN
Doctors took several biopsies from the affected area to try to establish what was causing the inflammation.
Beverley said she had been told that biopsy results can sometimes take as long as 12 or 13 weeks, although her medical team expected her results to be passed to her surgeon and oncologist much sooner.
According to the actress, she should know more after her specialists receive the results in around a week.
She admitted that the latest findings were difficult to hear.
“Obviously it’s not great news,” Beverley told her followers.
However, she also said she felt some relief because the doctors had potentially identified an explanation for the nausea that has been troubling her.
The actress explained that the symptoms had been driving her “mad” and said knowing there was a physical reason for them reassured her that she was not simply imagining or exaggerating how unwell she felt.
A DIFFICULT PERIOD FOR THE ACTRESS
Beverley was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier in 2026 and has since undergone treatment, including a course of radiotherapy.
She previously revealed that she completed her 10th and final radiotherapy session in July, although she continued to experience difficult side effects during her recovery.
In recent weeks, she has also spoken openly about persistent nausea, exhaustion and the difficulty of slowing down.
Earlier in September, doctors referred her to a gastroenterologist after telling her that “something’s not quite right” and recommending additional scans and further investigation.
The latest tests were part of that continuing investigation.
‘I’M OK, I’M A BIT FED UP’
Despite the uncertainty, Beverley tried to reassure fans that she was coping.
“I’m OK, I’m a bit fed up about it,” she said, explaining that she simply wanted to get back to normal life.
She also praised the hospital staff who had been caring for her.
The actress has continued working during her treatment and has remained candid with fans about the physical and emotional challenges she has experienced.
For now, however, there are still questions that cannot be answered until the biopsy results return.
The inflammation has been identified, but its underlying cause has not yet been confirmed.
There is also no indication in Beverley’s latest update that doctors have told her that the inflammation represents a spread of her cancer.
Instead, her medical team is investigating the new stomach problem while continuing to manage her existing cancer treatment and recovery.
For Beverley, the latest update means another period of waiting — but also the possibility of finally understanding why she has been feeling so unwell.
She has promised to keep her followers updated as soon as she knows more.
