FORMER CORONATION STREET STAR REVEALS DOCTORS FOUND SEVERE INFLAMMATION IN HER UPPER STOMACH

Beverley Callard has given fans a new update on her health as she continues treatment following her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

The 69-year-old former Coronation Street star recently underwent further hospital tests after experiencing persistent nausea.

In an emotional update shared with followers, Beverley revealed that doctors found her oesophagus was clear but discovered that the upper part of her stomach was “really, badly inflamed.” Several biopsies were taken to determine what was causing the inflammation.

Beverley admitted that the news was worrying, but said she was also relieved to finally have an explanation for the nausea that had been troubling her.

Speaking about her latest hospital appointment, Beverley explained that what was initially expected to be an endoscopy also involved a gastroscopy.

She said doctors examined her digestive system and found that her oesophagus appeared clear.

However, they discovered significant inflammation in the upper part of her stomach and took several tissue samples for further testing.

Beverley described the development as “not great news”, but stressed that she did not yet have all the answers.

She said the biopsies were being examined to establish the cause of the inflammation.

Some biopsy results can take considerably longer to process, but Beverley said her medical team expected her results to reach her surgeon and oncologist in around a week.

‘AT LEAST I KNOW NOW’

Despite the worrying discovery, Beverley appeared determined to remain positive.

The actress said the ongoing nausea had been extremely frustrating and that knowing there was a physical explanation for it was, in some ways, reassuring.

She explained that she had previously worried she was simply struggling to cope, but doctors had now identified the inflammation as a possible explanation for the symptoms.

Beverley also praised the hospital staff who had been caring for her during the latest round of examinations.

She told followers that she was doing okay, although she admitted she was becoming frustrated with the situation and wanted to return to normal life.

WAITING FOR THE BIOPSY RESULTS

For now, Beverley is waiting for doctors to determine exactly what is behind the severe inflammation.

The biopsies are an important part of that process, and there is currently no confirmed public explanation for what caused the inflammation.

Importantly, Beverley’s latest comments do not confirm that her breast cancer has spread.

Her update concerned the inflammation found during her recent stomach examination, while further medical information is still being awaited.

Beverley was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and has kept followers updated throughout her treatment.

She has previously spoken openly about the emotional and physical difficulties of going through treatment while also trying to continue working.

She has also returned to work on RTÉ’s Fair City, where she joined the cast as Lily earlier this year.

Throughout her treatment, Beverley has repeatedly emphasized the importance of keeping her mind occupied and trying to continue with everyday life where possible.

Now, another round of medical tests has left her waiting for more answers.

She said she was “a bit fed up” and simply wanted to get back to normal life.
