🚨 NOLAN WELLS’ PHONE WAS AT THE CENTER OF THE CASE — BUT THE GRAND JURY FOUND NO CRIMINAL LINK

For months, Nolan Wells’ cellphone became one of the most closely questioned pieces of evidence in his death.

The 18-year-old disappeared after a July 4 boating trip to Horn Island.

His body was found two days later.

Nolan’s phone, however, had returned to the mainland without him — a detail that fueled intense speculation online about what happened during his final hours.

His family questioned why Nolan would remain on the island without his phone.

Investigators examined cellphone records, GPS data, videos, photographs, forensic reports and witness statements.

The grand jury ultimately reviewed 132 subpoenas and testimony from 43 witnesses.

And then came the major development.

The Jackson County grand jury found no credible evidence that anyone who traveled to or from Horn Island that day committed a crime connected to Nolan’s death.

No indictments were issued.

No friend was charged with murder.

And authorities have not established that Nolan was murdered.

The grand jury said the location and condition of Nolan’s body were consistent with drowning.

At the same time, both the state medical examiner and an independent forensic pathologist listed the cause and manner of death as undetermined.

That distinction is important.

The grand jury also noted bruising on the back of Nolan’s head, but found it was not a fatal injury. One witness reported seeing Nolan slip awkwardly from the side of a boat around the time he was last seen, although the witness could not say whether Nolan struck his head.

The case has therefore reached a complicated point.

The grand jury found no criminal wrongdoing.

But Nolan’s family continues to seek answers about exactly what happened before his death.

And if credible new evidence ever shows that his death was non-accidental, the grand jury report says the matter can be brought forward again.

The phone raised questions.

The investigation examined those questions.

But as of now, there is no verified evidence that it linked Nolan’s friends to his murder.

Nolan was 18.

His family still wants to know what happened during his final hours.

And that question remains at the center of the story.
