TRACY SHAW BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS AS BREAST CANCER BATTLE TAKES AN EMOTIONAL TOLL

Former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has opened up about the emotional toll of her breast cancer treatment, admitting that the journey has left her feeling overwhelmed as she continues chemotherapy.

The actress, best known for playing Maxine Peacock in the ITV soap, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and has been sharing candid updates about her treatment with followers.

In one emotional video shared during the early stages of her treatment, Tracy broke down in tears and admitted she was struggling with the uncertainty surrounding what lay ahead.

“I can’t go through with this anymore,” she said while discussing the fear and anxiety she was experiencing before treatment had even fully begun.

Tracy announced her breast cancer diagnosis in April 2026, after discovering a lump.

The 53-year-old has since documented different stages of her treatment, including chemotherapy and the physical and emotional difficulties that have come with it.

Before starting treatment, Tracy made the decision to cut and donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for children and young people affected by cancer.

She described cutting her hair as another significant step in her cancer journey and acknowledged the reality that chemotherapy could cause her hair to fall out.

At the time, she spoke openly about waking each morning knowing that she would have to return to hospital and face more uncertainty.

“I CAN’T GO THROUGH WITH THIS ANYMORE”

In an emotional video shared before treatment, Tracy became tearful while describing the fear surrounding the unknown.

She said she had been receiving difficult news for a long period and found herself questioning whether she could cope with what was ahead.

Despite those fears, she continued with treatment.

Her updates have since shown that the journey has involved repeated chemotherapy sessions, hospital appointments and difficult physical symptoms.

CHEMOTHERAPY HAS TAKEN ITS TOLL

By September, Tracy had already undergone several rounds of chemotherapy.

After her fourth round, she told followers that she was feeling extremely unwell.

She wrote that the latest cycle had “hit hard” and described the experience as painful, while saying she was trying to focus on getting through one day at a time.

Tracy also said that knowing what was coming with each cycle did not necessarily make the experience easier.

“I’m feeling absolute rubbish at the moment but ‘This too shall pass,’” she shared.

She has also spoken about struggling during periods of hot weather while receiving treatment in hospital, particularly because chemotherapy had affected her immune system.

AN APPOINTMENT MISSED AFTER 45 MINUTES SEARCHING FOR PARKING

The latest emotional setback came in September when Tracy revealed that she had missed an important hospital appointment after struggling to find a parking space.

She said she arrived early at Royal Berkshire Hospital, but spent around 45 minutes driving around the car park without finding a space.

Eventually, she contacted the hospital and was told that, because it was her first appointment with the doctor, it was uncertain whether she could still be seen.

Tracy said the experience caused enormous anxiety because the appointment was one she had been looking forward to.

She also revealed that she had previously been 45 minutes late for chemotherapy because of difficulties with parking.

The incident left her visibly upset as she explained the additional stress it had caused during an already difficult period.

SHE CONTINUES TO SHARE THE REALITY OF TREATMENT

Throughout her cancer journey, Tracy has chosen to share both the difficult and positive moments with her followers.

Rather than presenting only an optimistic picture, she has spoken openly about exhaustion, anxiety, hospital visits and the physical impact of chemotherapy.

At the same time, she has said she wants to highlight moments of joy in the middle of treatment, hoping that her experiences can provide some encouragement to other people going through cancer.

Her updates have also connected her with other patients whom she described as “life sisters” — people sharing similar experiences during treatment.

A JOURNEY THAT IS STILL UNDERWAY

Tracy’s cancer treatment remains ongoing.

Her story has changed considerably since the first emotional announcement earlier this year. What was initially a period of fear before chemotherapy has developed into months of treatment, repeated hospital visits and the physical challenges of multiple chemotherapy cycles.

Her recent missed appointment also highlighted how seemingly ordinary obstacles can become overwhelming when someone is already dealing with the strain of cancer treatment.

For now, Tracy continues to document her experience publicly, sharing the difficult days alongside the moments that help her keep moving forward.

The former Coronation Street actress has made clear that the journey is far from over — but she continues to face it one day at a time.
