A Cincinnati woman is facing multiple animal-related charges after authorities reportedly discovered two dogs that had died inside locked crates, along with several other animals living in concerning conditions.

Angela Dodson was arrested on June 6 and charged with four counts involving prohibitions concerning companion animals and one count of cruelty to animals, according to Hamilton County Municipal Court records.

Investigators said two dogs in her care were found deceased inside locked crates. Court documents allege that one of the animals did not have access to food or water.

Several other dogs were reportedly found still living at the property.

According to court records, one dog had an injured paw and was being kept in what investigators described as unsafe conditions. Another was allegedly confined to a room without food or water.

A third dog was reportedly discovered trapped between a window and a piece of plywood, according to the complaint.

For those who care for animals, the discovery has been especially difficult to hear. Behind every animal found at the home was a life that depended entirely on the people responsible for providing food, water, shelter and care.

Family members described the situation as heartbreaking, saying they could only imagine how frightened and confused the dogs must have been.

“Animals cannot ask for help when something is wrong,” a family member said. “They depend on people to notice them, protect them and give them a safe place to live.”

The discovery has also renewed concern for the dogs that survived, as their journey does not simply end with being removed from a difficult environment. They may still need veterinary attention, patience and time to feel safe again.

The case remains pending in Hamilton County Municipal Court, and the allegations have not yet been proven in court.
