FIRST PICTURES OF “DEEPLY MISSED” FATHER AND DAUGHTER KILLED IN DEVASTATING WORKPLACE TRAGEDY

The first pictures have emerged of a father and daughter who died in the same tragic workplace incident in County Offaly, Ireland, leaving their family, colleagues and the local community devastated.

Mihai Chinez, 49, and his daughter, Denisa Mihaela Chinez, 24, both from Banagher, died following an incident at Banagher Precast Concrete on September 28.

The pair were originally from Romania but had lived in the Offaly community for years and worked at the concrete plant.

Emergency services, including Gardaí, were called to the site shortly before midday. Both Mihai and Denisa were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were later taken to Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, where post-mortem examinations were carried out.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been fully established, and an investigation is continuing.

A FAMILY LEFT GRIEVING TWO LOSSES

The tragedy has left Mihai’s wife and Denisa’s mother, Angela, mourning both her husband and daughter.

A funeral notice named Denisa’s sister, Lavinia Alexandra, and Denisa’s fiancé, Liviu Blaj, among those grieving alongside their wider family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues.

The notice described Mihai and Denisa as deeply missed and expressed the family’s sorrow following their sudden deaths.

Their deaths have also deeply affected colleagues at Banagher Precast Concrete.

The company said the incident was a devastating tragedy for everyone connected with the organisation and that employees were in deep shock. It also extended its condolences to the family and said its immediate priority was supporting those affected.

JOINT FUNERAL FOR FATHER AND DAUGHTER

The family will come together to say goodbye to Mihai and Denisa in Banagher.

Their remains are due to be received at Banagher Community Centre on Wednesday, September 30, ahead of a joint funeral Mass at St Rynagh’s Church on Thursday.

Denisa is due to be buried at St Rynagh’s Cemetery, while Mihai’s cremation will take place at a later date.

For a community already struggling to comprehend the sudden loss, the funeral will provide an opportunity for family, friends and colleagues to stand together.

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Authorities are continuing to establish exactly what happened at the Banagher concrete plant.

Banagher Precast Concrete has said it will cooperate fully with the relevant statutory bodies investigating the incident.

The company described the event as unprecedented for the organisation and thanked the emergency services and others who responded.

For those closest to the family, however, the investigation cannot change the devastating reality: Mihai and Denisa, a father and daughter who went to work at the same site, will now be remembered together by the people who loved and knew them.

Mihai was 49.

Denisa was 24.

Their sudden deaths have left a family mourning two members at once — and a Banagher community coming together to remember them.
