The family of actor Chad Lowe is mourning the devastating loss of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe, whose death has now been officially ruled a suicide.

Fiona was pronounced dead at 1:14 a.m. on September 29, 2026, at a hospital in Los Angeles, according to information from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The manner of death was determined to be suicide on October 1.

The news comes just days after Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, publicly announced that their daughter had died.

In a heartbreaking statement shared with PEOPLE, the family remembered Fiona not through the circumstances of her death, but through the person they knew and loved.

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said.

They described her as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” they continued. “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

Fiona was the second of Chad and Kim’s three daughters.

The couple also shares Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.

According to a source who spoke with PEOPLE, Fiona was remembered by people in her community as sweet, quiet and kind, with dance being one of her greatest passions.

“She had a very artistic soul,” the source said, describing the impact her death has had on her school and the surrounding community.

Her grandfather, Chuck Lowe, also shared a tribute to Fiona after her death.

He posted a photograph of his granddaughter smiling in a pool alongside the words, “Rest in peace sweet Fiona.”

Just months before her death, Chad had publicly celebrated Fiona reaching her teenage years.

In November 2025, the actor shared a photo of his daughter as she turned 13, writing a loving birthday message and encouraging her to “Keep dancing through life.”
