HONORING BROOKE EBY: A LIGHT OF HOPE AND HUMOR IN THE FIGHT AGAINST ALS

The world lost a truly compassionate, positive, and funny soul. Brooke Eby of Potomac, Maryland, has passed away at 37 following a brave four-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease. After receiving her diagnosis at age 33 in March 2022, Brooke made the courageously conscious choice to bring national visibility to ALS.

Through her social media presence under “Limpbroozkit” and by founding the online support network ALStogether, Brooke used humor, honesty, and stand-up comedy to make ALS impossible to ignore. Her efforts raised over $1 million for medical research and earned her national media coverage along with the title of ALS Hero in 2024 from the ALS Association.

Her story echoes those of many courageous individuals who have fought or continue to battle ALS, including former Auburn football players Lee Carpenter, Frank Orgel, and Chris Deal, basketball star Gary Godfrey, and Alabama fullbacks Kevin Turner and Kerry Goode. Like them, Brooke demonstrated immense strength, living every single day by her family motto: “doing my best.”

Brooke leaves behind her loving parents, Cliff and Ginny, along with a vast community inspired by her advocacy. While her physical fight has ended, her legacy lives on in the ongoing mission to raise awareness, foster community, and ultimately find a cure for ALS. She will never be forgotten.
