REUBEN OWEN AND JESSICA ELLWOOD — WHEN LOVE MEANS SHARING THE FARM

REUBEN OWEN AND JESSICA ELLWOOD — WHEN LOVE MEANS SHARING THE FARM
For Reuben Owen and Jessica Ellwood, romance doesn’t always look like candlelit dinners or glamorous weekends away.
Sometimes, it looks like sheep, tractors, muddy boots, machinery and long days on the farm.
And somehow, that seems to suit them perfectly.
The couple first met at a Young Farmers’ event in 2024, and their relationship grew from a shared understanding of something that has shaped both of their lives — farming.
IT STARTED WITH A SIMPLE MEETING
Reuben, who grew up around farming in the Yorkshire Dales and became known through Our Yorkshire Farm, met Jessica through the Young Farmers community.
Jessica had grown up at her family’s Brough Castle Farm in Cumbria, surrounded by cows, sheep and the everyday responsibilities of agricultural life.
She later said that they simply “clicked” because they both came from farming backgrounds.
For Reuben, meeting her would become something he remembered very differently from an ordinary first date.
He has described meeting Jess as “the biggest stroke of luck” and has spoken openly about how much he loves her.
SHE UNDERSTANDS HIS WORLD
One thing makes their relationship especially unusual: Jessica doesn’t just understand Reuben’s passion for farming.
She lives it too.
Jessica works alongside her family at Brough Castle Farm and has spoken about how farming has been part of her life since childhood.
She has also expressed a desire to encourage more young women to consider careers in agriculture.
That shared background means Reuben doesn’t have to explain why a farm job can suddenly take priority, why animals cannot always wait or why a working day can stretch far beyond normal hours.
Jessica already knows.
THEIR DATES CAN LOOK VERY DIFFERENT
For many couples, quality time might mean dinner, a movie or a weekend away.
For Reuben and Jess, it can also mean working with livestock or machinery side by side.
Their relationship has grown around the reality of rural life — where there are always animals to check, equipment to operate and jobs waiting to be finished.
But that doesn’t mean they never switch off.
The couple have also enjoyed holidays and quieter moments together, proving that even when farming dominates their days, they still find time to simply be a couple.
FROM VISITS TO A SHARED HOME
Their relationship eventually reached another important milestone when Reuben began spending more and more time at Jessica’s family farm.
He once explained that he would visit Jess in the evening and simply didn’t want to leave.
One night became another.
Then another.
Eventually, it started with a toothbrush — and before long, his clothes were in the washing machine and dinner was waiting for him.
The relationship had quietly turned into a shared life.
By 2026, Reuben and Jess had moved in together at Brough Castle, bringing their personal lives and farming routines even closer.
MEET FLUFF — THEIR LITTLE FARM COMPANION
Their shared home also has an adorable member of the family.
A young lamb named Fluff became part of their lives after suffering a broken leg when she was born.
Instead of simply being another animal on the farm, Fluff quickly became something much more personal to the couple.
Reuben has affectionately described her as almost like their child.
And for two people whose lives revolve around animals, perhaps there could hardly be a more fitting companion.
TWO PEOPLE, ONE WAY OF LIFE
Reuben has built his own path through farming, machinery and television, while Jessica continues to work within her family’s agricultural world.
But despite the attention surrounding Reuben’s television career, their relationship appears to remain grounded in something much simpler.
They understand each other.
They understand the early mornings.
The unpredictable days.
The muddy clothes.
The animals that need attention.
The machinery that cannot wait.
And the reality that sometimes, the farm simply comes first.
LOVE IN THE MIDDLE OF FARM LIFE
Reuben and Jessica’s story isn’t really about grand romantic gestures.
It’s about the everyday moments that slowly become a life together.
A long day of work.
A meal after finishing the farm jobs.
A lamb that needs looking after.
A quiet evening at home.
And having someone beside you who already understands exactly why this life means so much.
For Reuben Owen and Jessica Ellwood, love didn’t take them away from the countryside.
It brought them even deeper into the world they both already loved.
Two young farmers.
One shared world.
And a relationship growing right in the middle of it.
