NOAH WOODS CASE: MOTHER FACES HEARTBREAKING QUESTIONS AFTER HER THREE-YEAR-OLD SON’S TRAGIC DEATH

An inquest revealed how little Noah Woods left a playground before disappearing, while a separate investigation into unauthorized access to his medical records brought further distress to his grieving family.

BRANTHAM, SUFFOLK, ENGLAND — The death of three-year-old Noah Woods has left his family and community heartbroken. Weeks after the little boy disappeared during an outing to a local playground, new details heard at an inquest have raised painful questions about the circumstances surrounding his final hours.

Noah went missing on September 15, 2026, after visiting an under-fives play area in Brantham with a relative. When he could no longer be found, an extensive search began, bringing together emergency services, specialist teams and approximately 1,300 members of the public.

The search ended in tragedy the following day, when divers recovered Noah’s body from Decoy Pond, a nearby lake.

His father, Rhys Woods, paid a deeply emotional tribute to his son, describing him as “the sweetest and most innocent little boy, with nothing but love to give.”

At an inquest hearing on September 25, investigators outlined the last known movements of the young child.

CCTV footage showed Noah playing in the playground, with his last recorded sighting at approximately 2:37 p.m. He subsequently left through a gap in the fence, passed through an open gate leading from a nearby memorial garden and headed in the direction of Decoy Pond.

A relative was reportedly following him and attempting to keep up. However, after Noah had travelled approximately 200 metres, the relative could no longer see him.

Police were contacted, and a major search operation followed.

A Metropolitan Police diver eventually found Noah among submerged tree roots, approximately five metres from the pond’s bank. The water was estimated to be around 1.8 metres deep at that location.

The inquest heard that the medical cause of death remained pending further investigation. The hearing was adjourned, with a further date to be arranged.

A MOTHER AND FAMILY LEFT TO GRIEVE

For Noah’s mother, Charlie Peck, and the rest of his family, the loss has been devastating.

The family described Noah as a “happy, cheeky, playful” little boy who loved to laugh and brought joy wherever he went. Their tribute also reflected the special bond they shared with him.

Noah was non-verbal and partially deaf, and he had been undergoing an assessment for autism. His disappearance prompted an extraordinary response from people across the local community, many of whom joined the search in the hope that he would be found safe.

Instead, the family received the news every parent fears.

Although emotional social-media posts have circulated about the case, reports of the inquest have not established a final medical explanation for Noah’s death. It is important to distinguish the confirmed findings from claims that remain unverified.

Days after Noah’s death, another troubling development emerged.

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust apologized to Noah’s family after an investigation found concerns that his medical records had been accessed without proper authorization.

The trust said it had launched an urgent internal investigation, taken steps to secure the records and reported the matter to the Information Commissioner’s Office. ITV News reported that 10 employees had been suspended while the investigation proceeded.

The trust acknowledged that the breach had caused additional distress to a family already experiencing an unimaginable loss.

The records investigation is separate from the circumstances of Noah’s death. It does not, by itself, establish that the medical records contained evidence about how he died or that anyone deliberately concealed information about his final injury.

A COMMUNITY THAT WILL NOT FORGET HIM

The response to Noah’s disappearance showed how deeply his story affected people beyond his own family. Hundreds of volunteers joined the search, and messages of condolence poured in after his body was found.

A fundraising appeal for his family also attracted widespread support, with donations passing £100,000 in the days following his death.

For those who knew Noah, the memories that remain are not simply of the search or the inquest. They are memories of a young child whose laughter, affection and personality brought happiness to the people around him.

As the investigation continues and the inquest awaits a further hearing, his family is left to navigate their grief while seeking answers.

Noah was only three years old. His story is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly an ordinary family outing can turn into a tragedy—and of the importance of establishing the facts carefully, so that his family can understand what happened to their little boy.
