Julieta was travelling aboard one of the high-speed trains involved in the crash on October 28, 2026.
Her death was confirmed by her athletics club, AD Sprint, and the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.
She had celebrated her 24th birthday just 19 days earlier, on October 9.
The young athlete was living in Germany but remained connected to the Spanish athletics community, where she had competed in long jump events for the Madrid-based club.
A PASSION FOR LONG JUMP
Julieta was a member of AD Sprint’s jumping group and regularly competed in Spanish athletics competitions.
According to reports, she had achieved a personal best of 5.90 metres in the long jump.
Her progress on the track reflected years of dedication, training and commitment to the sport.
For the people who trained and competed alongside her, she was not simply an athlete representing their club. She was a valued member of their sporting family.
HER CLUB’S HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE
Following confirmation of her death, AD Sprint shared an emotional tribute to the young athlete.
“Today is a very sad day for the entire AD Sprint family,” the club said.

The federation sent its support and condolences to her loved ones and fellow club members.
A TRAGEDY THAT SHOOK SPAIN
Julieta was among the victims of the high-speed train collision near Urda on October 28.
The crash involved a Renfe AVE train and an Iryo service travelling on the Madrid–Seville route. The collision caused carriages to derail and left dozens of people dead, with many others injured.
As authorities worked to identify victims, families faced an agonising wait for confirmation about their loved ones.
The tragedy has also prompted serious questions about railway safety and the circumstances that allowed the collision to happen. An investigation is underway.
REMEMBERED BEYOND THE TRACK
For Julieta’s family, friends and teammates, the loss is immeasurable.
She was only 24, with a life beyond athletics still unfolding and ambitions that had taken her across borders.
Her club and the national federation have joined those remembering her, ensuring that her name is not lost among the statistics of the disaster.
The athletics community has lost one of its own — a young woman whose journey ended far too soon.
