BROOKLYN JOGGER KATIE SUAREZ, 28, REPORTEDLY BRAIN DEAD AFTER BRUTAL BIKE PATH ATTACK — FATHER FOUND HER AFTER SHE FAILED TO COME HOME

Katie Suarez was out for an evening run along Brooklyn’s Shore Parkway Greenway when she was attacked and stabbed multiple times in the neck. Her father found her after she stopped responding to his calls. As reports raise heartbreaking questions about her condition, police are offering a $10,000 reward to help identify the attacker.

A routine evening run has turned into a devastating tragedy for the family of 28-year-old Katie Suarez.

Suarez was attacked on Friday, October 30, while jogging along the Shore Parkway Greenway in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn, New York.

According to police, the assault happened shortly after 8 p.m. near Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue. The young woman suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck and was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn in critical condition.

Her father, who had been expecting to meet her after her run, eventually went looking for her when she failed to arrive and stopped answering his calls.

He found his daughter seriously injured along the waterfront path.

Earlier that evening, Katie had finished work at a TD Bank branch in the Caesar’s Bay Shopping Center.

According to information shared by investigators, she left work at approximately 6:30 p.m., met her mother nearby and changed into her running clothes before heading out alone.

She was preparing for the New York City Marathon, according to reports.

Around 8 p.m., Katie spoke with her father by phone and reportedly told him she was about half a mile away — a distance she could cover in just a few minutes.

But she never arrived at their planned meeting point.

When subsequent calls went unanswered, her father became concerned and went to search for her.

He found Katie with serious injuries on the running path. Emergency medical personnel transported her to the hospital, where she remained in critical condition.

HEARTBREAKING REPORTS ABOUT HER CONDITION

In the days following the attack, reports about Katie’s medical condition have become increasingly distressing.

The New York Post reported, citing sources, that Katie had been declared brain dead and remained on life support at NYU Langone Hospital.

However, police officials have continued to describe her condition as critical or grave. On November 2, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny told NBC New York that she remained in very critical condition.

The brain-death report has not been independently confirmed in an official public statement from police.

The distinction is important, and her family’s situation remains deeply sensitive as they face an extraordinarily difficult time.

Investigators are working to identify the person responsible, but no suspect has been publicly identified and no arrest has been announced.

The NYPD is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Detectives are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen Katie between approximately 7:56 p.m. and 8:12 p.m. on October 30, along the eastbound bike path near the Belt Parkway between Bay 8th Street and Bay 17th Street.

Police have also used specialized investigative teams, including K-9 units, drones and divers, while searching for evidence.

Authorities have not publicly established a motive. Investigators are asking witnesses and anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Spanish-speaking callers can use 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted online through the NYPD Crime Stoppers website.

A COMMUNITY LEFT SHAKEN

The attack has left residents and people who regularly use the waterfront path deeply unsettled.

The Shore Parkway Greenway is a popular route for runners, cyclists and families. Following the incident, some residents raised concerns about limited lighting and the lack of surveillance cameras in certain areas.

Neighbors have also expressed sympathy for Katie and her family, with flowers and candles appearing as people hope for answers.

For her loved ones, the most painful part is that an ordinary evening — a run before meeting her parents — ended in a medical emergency that has changed their lives forever.

Katie’s family is now facing an uncertain and heartbreaking situation while investigators continue searching for the person responsible.

A $10,000 reward is being offered. But what police need most is information that could help explain what happened on that Brooklyn path and bring the person responsible to justice.
