YOUNG GIRL FIGHTS FOR HER LIFE AFTER RARE ACCIDENT LEADS TO SEVERE BRAIN INFECTION, FAMILY HOLDS ONTO HOPE

A 10-year-old girl nearly lost her life after a shocking accident left her battling severe meningitis.
Chloe Clark was struck by a 48-pound piece of plywood that fell while her father, Jared, was working on the roof of their home in Ardmore, Alabama.
The impact was devastating — breaking her nose and allowing fragments to reach the area around her brain. This created a pathway for bacteria, leading to a serious infection.

Recalling the terrifying moment, Jared shared:
“It went through the fence like nothing stopped it… then I heard a scream I’ll never forget. It felt like everything inside me just dropped.”
Chloe was rushed to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville for emergency surgery and initially seemed to be improving.
But just as she was about to be discharged, her condition suddenly worsened. She experienced intense pain and severe complications, later diagnosed as meningitis.

“Seconds before, she was resting… then suddenly she was in unbearable pain,” Jared said. “It escalated so fast, it was terrifying.”
Doctors discovered swelling in her brain along with dangerous blood clots. She also faced serious complications affecting her lungs and spinal fluid.
Chloe was placed on a breathing machine and remained unconscious in the ICU for several days, as her parents feared the worst.
“There was a moment we thought we might lose her,” Jared said quietly.

But after a critical week, Chloe began to improve.
Now, her recovery has been nothing short of remarkable.
“She’s getting better every single day,” Jared said. “We’re just incredibly grateful. She’s still here, still herself — and that means everything to us.”
