PARENTS, STAY ALERT — A 9-MONTH-OLD BABY SUFFERED SERIOUS THROAT INJURY AFTER SWALLOWING A BATTERY

A 9-month-old baby girl in the United States is recovering after a terrifying incident that left her family fearing the worst.
Little Rosantina West, from Minnesota, was rushed to the hospital after her parents, Kiara and Daniel West, noticed she was struggling to breathe and making unusual wheezing sounds.
At first, doctors believed she was suffering from RSV, a common respiratory virus in infants, and she was sent home with medication. But just two days later, her condition became worse. The strange sounds from her throat grew more alarming, and her mother knew something wasn’t right.
Trusting her instincts, Kiara brought Rosantina to a children’s hospital for further examination.

There, an X-ray revealed the shocking truth — a button battery was lodged in the baby’s esophagus.
Rosantina was immediately taken into emergency surgery. Doctors warned the family about how dangerous button batteries can be, especially for young children, as they can cause severe internal injuries in a very short time.
The surgery was successful, and the battery was safely removed. However, doctors discovered that it had already caused serious burns to her throat.
Despite the frightening ordeal, Rosantina is now recovering in hospital and her condition is improving.

Her parents shared their emotional experience, hoping to raise awareness for other families.
“We thought it was just a normal illness at first,” Kiara said. “But deep down, I felt something was wrong. I’m so grateful we went back when we did.”
Daniel added, “Seeing her in pain was the hardest thing we’ve ever faced. We’re just thankful she’s still here with us.”
The family is now focusing on Rosantina’s recovery and encouraging other parents to stay alert to unusual symptoms.
“Please trust your instincts,” Kiara said. “If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. It could save your child’s life.”
