PREGNANT MOTHER JUMPS FROM SECOND FLOOR DURING HOUSE 𝙵𝙸𝚁𝙴, LATER UNDERGOES EMERGENCY C-SECTION TO SAVE HER BABY

“I made it out of the window, and Travis ran down the stairs through the fire. We both suffered serious injuries, and I also had a head injury.”

A pregnant mum and her husband have shared their dramatic escape from a house fire before the emergency delivery of their first baby.

On May 24, about five weeks before her due date, Rachel Standfest and her husband Travis woke up to a fire in their home and had to find a way out of the two-storey house.

“I made it out of the window, and Travis ran down the stairs through the flames. We both suffered serious injuries, and I also had a head injury,” the US mum shared on Instagram.

Their baby was later delivered via emergency surgery, while both parents received urgent medical care.

“We got to the hospital, and I had an emergency C-section to make sure our little girl was safe. Once we were awake and able, we finally got to meet her,” Rachel said.

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Brynlee Rose.

“We are all alive and recovering, and we count our blessings every day,” she shared.

A month after the incident, the couple posted an inspiring video of them leaving the hospital with their baby. The clip quickly went viral on TikTok, gaining 4.9 million views.

“Four weeks ago I jumped out of a two-storey window and Travis ran through flames. Today we WALKED out of the hospital together with a beautiful new addition to our family,” Rachel wrote.

In another video, they shared images of their home during the fire and moments from their hospital recovery while holding their newborn.

Some photos show Rachel and Travis resting during treatment as they recovered side by side.

Alongside the clip, Rachel wrote: “A little look into our journey this past month. We still have a long road to recovery, but we feel so grateful for how far we’ve come. We can’t thank the firefighters, nurses, and doctors enough for everything they’ve done.”

A GoFundMe page created by Travis’s sister shared more about the situation.

She explained that the couple woke up to a devastating fire that destroyed nearly everything they owned.

“They lost their home, clothes, cars, and many of the gifts they had prepared for their baby girl,” the page said.

“Baby girl, though arriving three weeks early, is healthy and doing well, and Travis and Rachel are continuing their recovery.”

“The journey ahead will take time and strength.”

As both parents will be unable to work for a while, their family has asked for support. The fundraiser has raised $AUD97,000.

“So many of you have asked how to help, and we are deeply touched by the kindness of friends, family, and even strangers. Any support is truly appreciated.”

On June 22, Rachel shared an update that the family had been discharged from the hospital.

“Travis and Rachel have made the best of a very difficult situation,” she said.

“Life may look different for some time, and there is still a lot of healing ahead.

“But they are focusing on the positives. Their strength and grace through this journey continue to inspire everyone around them.”
