Charlotte’s Journey: Overcoming Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis and Thriving After Liver Transplant

Charlotte’s Brave Fight: From Liver Transplant to a Childhood Reclaimed

At only 9 months old, Charlotte’s life changed forever when doctors diagnosed her with progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis type 2, a rare liver condition that forced her family into a world of uncertainty, hospital visits, tests, and difficult decisions. While most children her age were simply learning to explore the world, Charlotte was already showing a quiet strength far beyond her years.

Her journey was not easy. PFIC2 brought challenges that tested her body, her family’s courage, and everyone’s faith in the future. But through every appointment, every setback, and every moment of fear, Charlotte kept moving forward with a spirit that inspired everyone around her.

In February, she received a life-changing liver transplant. Today, more than a year later, Charlotte is not just recovering; she is living. She is playing basketball, traveling with her family, laughing through new adventures, and preparing for the exciting step into middle school.

Charlotte’s story is more than a medical milestone. It is a powerful reminder that hope can survive even the hardest seasons, and that one brave child’s fight can become a beautiful story of resilience, healing, and a future finally opening wide.
