Holy Mass with the Villa Nazareth Community

May 30, 2026 — Cardinal Pietro Parolin
On May 30, 2026, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, presided over a solemn Holy Mass for the Villa Nazareth Community at the Vatican. The celebration brought together students, educators, alumni, spiritual assistants, friends, and members of the community for a moment of thanksgiving, prayer, and renewed commitment to its mission. The Mass was also connected to the community’s anniversary celebration and was followed by an audience with Pope Leo XIV in the Hall of Blessings of the Apostolic Palace.

Villa Nazareth carries a long and meaningful history in the life of the Church. Founded 80 years ago after the Second World War by Cardinal Domenico Tardini, it began as a “laboratory of hope” in Rome, created to support young people with talent and goodwill who lacked the financial means to continue their studies. Over the decades, Villa Nazareth has continued to unite faith, culture, education, and charity in service of young people. Vatican News noted that its mission has helped more than 1,300 students graduate.

During the Mass, Cardinal Parolin reflected on the importance of communion, especially on the eve of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. He reminded the community that God is not distant or isolated, but perfect communion of life and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This message became the spiritual heart of the celebration — a call for the members of Villa Nazareth to live deeper unity, stronger fraternity, and more authentic service.

The celebration was not only a remembrance of the past, but also a renewed invitation for the future. Villa Nazareth was founded with the belief that peace is built by forming young people who are capable of doing good, serving others, and living the values of the Gospel in family life, study, professional work, and society. Cardinal Parolin highlighted the community’s founding values rooted in the Church’s Social Doctrine, as well as its spirit of simplicity, gratuitousness, and shared responsibility.

After the Mass, Pope Leo XIV welcomed the Villa Nazareth Community and encouraged them to continue offering intellectual, moral, and financial support to young people who need guidance. He described Villa Nazareth as a place where faith and knowledge should come together, helping young people achieve unity between mind and spirit, faith and study, profession and life.

The Pope also encouraged the community to remain a “hearth and forge of Christian thought,” where people from different generations and backgrounds work together to build a culture enlightened by the Gospel. His message emphasized dialogue, humility, education, and fraternity — values that remain deeply necessary in today’s world.
This Holy Mass with the Villa Nazareth Community became a powerful reminder that education is not only about academic success. It is also about forming hearts, strengthening faith, and preparing young people to serve the world with wisdom, compassion, and courage.

A Mass of gratitude.
A community built on hope.
A mission that continues to form young lives through faith, culture, and charity.
