Abandoned as a Baby for Looking “Different,” Xueli Abing Grew Up to Prove Her Worth and Turn Her Rare Beauty Into a Global Inspiration
Xueli Abing’s life began in a way no child should ever experience. As a baby in China, she was left outside an orphanage because of her unusual appearance. Born with albinism, a genetic condition that affects the color of the skin, hair, and eyes, Xueli looked different from many other children. At the time, China’s one-child policy was still in effect, and many babies were abandoned by families who felt unable or unwilling to raise them.

The orphanage took her in and gave her the name Xue Li. “Xue” means snow, and “Li” means beautiful — a name that would later reflect the strength and grace she carried through life. Though her biological parents disappeared without a trace, her story did not end in sadness.
At the age of three, Xueli was adopted by a loving Dutch family and moved to the Netherlands. There, she found the care, warmth, and support every child deserves. Her adoptive mother and sister helped her grow with confidence, even as the world often judged her by her appearance.

Years later, at just 11 years old, Xueli entered the modeling world almost by accident after a Hong Kong designer invited her to participate in a campaign. What started unexpectedly soon became a powerful platform. Her striking beauty, courage, and message challenged stereotypes and opened conversations about acceptance, representation, and human worth.
Today, Xueli Abing is more than a model. She is a symbol of resilience, proof that being different is not a weakness, and a reminder that the people once rejected by the world can become the very ones who inspire it.
