LATEST UPDATE
A 12-week-old puppy is finally safe after witnesses reported a shocking case of alleged animal cruelty that has led to the arrest of a Washington State man.

According to investigators, 39-year-old Christopher R. Myers allegedly became upset after the puppy defecated on a couch. Court documents state that Myers later admitted he picked up the puppy and tossed it into the grass after stepping in its feces on the porch.

Several people told deputies they saw the helpless puppy being thrown and struck, causing it to cry out in distress. Concerned witnesses immediately contacted authorities and later provided written statements and evidence supporting the allegations.

Although he later acknowledged tossing the puppy, authorities said he refused to surrender the animal.

Fearing for the puppy’s welfare, animal protection officers obtained a search warrant and removed the young dog from the property. The puppy was then transported to an emergency veterinary clinic for a full medical evaluation and care.

Myers has now been arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail.

He is facing charges of First-Degree Animal Cruelty, a felony offense, along with a misdemeanor charge of Second-Degree Animal Cruelty while the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, the puppy is receiving care and is now in a safe environment.

Animal advocates praised the witnesses who came forward, saying their quick actions may have prevented further suffering.

“What happened could have gone unseen,” one supporter said. “Because people spoke up, this puppy now has a chance to recover and move forward.”

For many animal lovers following the case, the most important update is a simple one: the young puppy is safe, receiving care, and no longer facing the situation that brought authorities to the home.

As the legal process moves forward, investigators continue gathering evidence while supporters hope the tiny dog’s story will ultimately have a far brighter ending than it began.
