Woman’s Boyfriend Calls 911 While Heroically Trying to Free Her from Fatal Alligator Attack That Ripped One Arm ‘Completely Off’

A tragic alligator attack in Florida claimed the life of 31-year-old Brittany Clark after she was swimming in the Econlockhatchee River with her boyfriend and friends.

According to authorities, Clark’s boyfriend called 911 while desperately attempting to rescue her from the massive reptile. In the released 911 audio, the man can be heard in panic saying:

“Somebody got bit by a gator. Bad. Real bad… Please, hurry.”

He also described the severity of her injuries, stating that one of her arms was “hanging on by a thread” and the other was “completely off.”

Despite efforts by her friends to pull her to shore and emergency responders rushing her to the hospital, Clark tragically died on the way. The attack occurred in about three feet of water, and officials confirmed there was no provocation of the alligator.

This incident is the third alligator attack in the region within just one week. In response, authorities captured and euthanized two large alligators near the scene — one measuring 13 feet and another 12.5 feet — as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has expressed condolences to Clark’s family and reminded the public that while serious alligator attacks are rare, caution is essential near Florida waterways. Key safety tips include swimming only in designated areas during daylight hours, keeping a safe distance from alligators, and never feeding them.

Our thoughts are with Brittany Clark’s loved ones during this heartbreaking time.
