Just three months into his life, baby Mohammad Al-Khatib has already endured more hardship than most people could imagine.

The infant was caught in a devastating airstrike that claimed the life of his mother while she was breastfeeding him. Amid the chaos, Mohammad was also seriously injured and rushed for emergency medical treatment.

Doctors worked tirelessly to save the tiny boy.

His left leg suffered a severe blast injury, and despite multiple surgeries, specialists were forced to perform an amputation below the knee in an effort to protect his life. But his battle is far from over.

Mohammad also sustained extensive burns and serious damage to his left hand. According to his medical team, the injury has continued to worsen, and there is now a significant risk that his hand could also require amputation. They have also warned that further surgery on his injured leg may become necessary if his condition continues to deteriorate.

Medical staff have provided every treatment currently available to them, but the shortage of specialized equipment and advanced surgical resources has made his recovery increasingly difficult.

Now, doctors believe Mohammad urgently needs to be transferred abroad for specialist care that may offer the best chance of preserving what remains of his injured limbs.

For the family caring for him, every day is filled with hope and uncertainty.

“He has already been through so much in such a short life,” one relative shared. “We simply want him to have the opportunity to grow up, play, and experience the childhood every child deserves.”

Although his journey has been marked by unimaginable loss, those closest to Mohammad continue to hold on to hope that specialized treatment could help change the course of his future.

After losing his mother in the tragedy, they now pray that this little boy will be given the chance to keep fighting—and to one day build the life she would have dreamed for him.
